AI Hydra Settings Thread

2' deep and 1' off the water. I was taking a closer look at the acclimation settings and something is goofy. Under acclimation mode I was showing closer to a 13% reduction. My DB and Rb were at 35. It says acclimation mode is enabled but I'm having my doubts.

Sonic to the rescue.

Lol why you putting me on blast.?

Are you using weather or clouds along with acclimation? If so the reduction is stacking.

Hey guys quick question. I recently noticed my devils hand leather is slightly bleaching at the top of the tank when I switched from 40% to 30% after 2 weeks in acclimation mode. Here are the settings.

40% 30%
W 18 21
V 18 21
R 6 7
G 7 8
DB 24 28
RB 24 28
UV 21 24

I mostly have LPS and Softies. Thoughts? These settings are pretty low compared to what I have seen other people run.

Are you using reg. hydra's or 52's? what did you come from? T5's?

Director up and running my Hydra upgrades...

I'm using the regular hydra. This tank is 6 months old and I've been acclimating from 50% reduction. It appears that the acclimation mode was not enabled even though it says it was. 40% reduction of 40 DB should be 24. However my controller was showing 35 DB when I last checked. This was not at the peak. Anywho I turned acclimation mode off and will adjust manually.

Sonicboom,
Due to your experiences with this fixture, it would be stupid for me to not try to gather some tips asking you for your opinion. Hope you don't mind.
I started a high end lps tank, with mainly chalices and favias. I have two hydras 16"over a 65tall(24" height). I have planned to place the corals over different levels of the tank wall. So I am very concerned about the intensities so I don't learn the hard way I made a mistake. I also don't have a par meter and came from T5s so I'm a newbie in this led world.
I run
W 7%
V 40%
G 17%
R 17%
RB 45%
DB 45%
Uv 12%

I'm doing acclimation with reduction of 40% over 2-3 weeks now.
Am I being paranoid or sort of in the right track so I don't get stuff start to bleach on me? I'm an experienced reefer, so let's consider all other factors ok.
Anyone who can help me with a direction would be greatly appreciated!
No much info on the web besides these forums!

Unless you see a check mark in the acclimation box, consider it disabled even though it shows you the last settings you had in there.

I am humbled and thanks for asking!, playing it safe is definitely the way to go especially coming from non led. Do you plan on keeping the lights at 16" or is that part of the safety plan? If not I would lower them to where you will keep them since your settings along with acclimation mode are very conservative. Otherwise you can start reducing the acclimation weekly until it's off, watch corals and adjust accordingly. I usually take pictures monthly just so I can have a record of changes/growth. Also any corals NOT directly under the leds will be getting reduced lighting. I often use the walls or high up corners of the tank to acclimate new frags.

Sonic was right about it staying in command of the lights even when its network connection falls off. I let it stay in that state for about two hours to make sure it would continue. When it went unreachable I couldn't even ping it from inside my network.

It is very comforting that it stays in control of the lights and continues their cycle. As added insurance, just incase they were to somehow get locked up lit, I set my Apex to kill their power at the time I have them scheduled in the director to be off. I am also thinking about plugging the Director into my Apex energy bar, so if I am out of town and it becomes unreachable I can hard rest it.

I just upgraded my lighting from a 105w CF Light to a AI Hydra26. I am running all the Colors as listed below and I'm also running on a 6 week 50% acclimation mode which has cut the lighting way down.

UV=30%
Violet=60%
Deep Blue=80%
Royal Blue=75%
Green=35%
Deep Red=35%
White=35%

My problem is that everything in the tank is doing great except for an Acan that has shrunk down as of yesterday. It was doing fine 5 days ago when I swapped the lighting. Does anyone know what is going on? It has shrunk before but never more than 1/2 a day. Could it just be getting used to the new light spectrum? How long should I leave it before moving it under a ledge to block the light?

Thanks

how deep is the tank? how high is the hydra over the water? did you put a check mark next to the acclimation setting? going from CF to LED's is a big change go slow!
Acan's don't need alot of light I would put him off to the side or corner.
Just my 2 cents.
