AI Hydra Settings Thread

Just*a quick update i contacted AI direct and asked them what a 14k and 20k setting would be on the hydra. I was very happy and shows that this company takes thier products and CS very seriously. They returned my email in 6hrs.

These are the settings they sent me.
a 20K spectrum:
Cool White 50
Deep Blue 65*
Royal 80
Violet 50
UV 40
Green 35
Red 25

For a 14K spectrum, something like the following:

Cool White 65
Deep Blue 40*
Royal 50
Violet 40
UV 40
Green 35
Red 25

I do have my blues higher and UV - but will be adjusting on ratio for more over all light

these settings are for the hydra.

This is what I got from them

Great to hear that all is well with the Hydra 52! No problem, if you are looking for a 14K look, would recommend running the White around 10% more than the Royal and Deep Blue channels, everything else subject to your discretion. For instance, something like this (though this is just for illustration):

Cool White 45
Royal Blue 40
Deep Blue 35
Violet 40
Red 20
Green 30
UV 25

I know this is for settings, but I have a mounting rail question. I am putting together a 20 long and want to you the classic mount kit. It comes in 24 and 36 inch long kits. Do the legs kick out enough that the 24" kit would work on a 30" long tank or do I need to get the 36". It is only a $10 difference so it is not a cost issue, I d not want the extra over hang if I can help it.

To my knowledge, you can cut the rails. So I would go 36. 24 is probably too short.

^ ur tank looks good bud. I also tried that 20k settings, but looked a little bright for my tank some how.

Thanks!! So far I'm definitely liking it

in such situation , it will be really helpful to have the ability to tune the overall intensity

Totally agree!! Should be able to set it to whatever color spectrum you want and then increase that settings intensity up or down. Come on, ai! Haha

I have 4 AI hydras running perpendicularly over a 300 gallon tank. I've done my best to read though this AI settings post but it is quite extensive. I am trying to figure out how to do a sweeping sunrise and sunset across the tank. With setting up 4 lights, do you, think I set power them up 1 at a time to recognize them one at a time and then set the settings for each one? Thanks i advance.

Wouldn't it be easier to just stager their start times? In other words run them in separate groups, use easy setup and stager their start times. Putting each in their individual groups would allow you to do that.

Its my understanding you would need to put each one in a different group. However in a separate group the clouds would be separate as well so may or may not roll

I don't think you'll get the results you're looking for regarding sunset and sunrise. You will, however, get some great clouds with all the lights. I get sweet sweeping clouds w 2 lights! haha

Thx. For sweeping clouds do I group them all together or turn one one at a time to allow controller to recognize?

Yup, group them all for 1 tank and the director will do the rest. As long as you have it set up in the weather area. If you choose local weather you can't control clouds and lighting separately. It all is based on the weather you set it to. Mine is set to LA time but weather is off since it's always the same here lol.

I have my clouds set to 10% probably at 50%. Lighting is 3% probably at 50%
