I think 2 over a 40b would be perfect. It lit my 20x15x15 really well.

I'm guessing you meant "no SPS in the tank" so if that's the case then I think they would be great. If you do plan on having SPS then I don't think you would be happy with just 2. You would need either 3 or T5 supplement to combat shading. My 29g is only 21" wide and I'm going to run 2 over it or find an old MH/T5 fixture (24" 4 bulb) and remove the MH and replace with just the one prime.

I have mine over my frag tank and I really like it so far.

Not having to purchase a controller is a really nice feature as well.

Lighting an 18" square is right in the Prime's wheelhouse. Two over a 40 breeder should be perfect and it's hard to complain about the price point. (But easy to complain about the tank mount)

The mount has gotten better. My first (just over three months old) had a loose ball mount that required some shimming to work well. The next two I've bought worked fine right out of the box.

The new mount works well no sagging.

Overall the light is awesome. Still messing with the settings for the best levels. I am only growing zoas/palys so trying to see what they most respond to.
