AI Sol with Season Table - The Phuzzykins Method, Redux

If settings for BL_Dawn, WH_Dawn, and RB_Dawn are all the same couldn't you just use a single "Dawn" virtual outlet? What are the advantages to having the 3 individual outlets with the exact same configuration?

Using three distinct sets of profiles allows you to use different intensities for each color as desired to suit your specific tastes.

My code here (and Phuzzykins' code on which mine is based) is really intended as a an example of a powerful and flexible framework which can be relatively easily adjusted.

But isn't that accomplished with the BL_Rise, WH_Rise and RB_Rise profiles not the 3 individual virtual outlets designated for dawn? Couldn't you just have one dawn, day and dusk Virtual outlet, but maybe have 3 profiles associated dawn, day and dusk for the 3 colors? I think i'm missing something in understanding the virtual outlet redundancy if they have the same settings....I understand having the different profiles.

I'm sorry calidub - I didn't read your question carefully enough. The separate VOs allow one to use different time offsets and, with corresponding changes in the profile ramp times, to modify the ramp times for each color independently. Some people like to start blues before white and run blues later that the white for example. All part of that "designed for flexibility" I mentioned...

Have a question maybe someone can help me with. I have gone through and done all of the settings that are on this thread, the biggest issue that I have is that on the outlet configuration it only gives me the Outlets in my VDM for Blue and White but no Royal. In essence I only have AI_Blue (2_5) and AI_White (2_6). Am I missing something as to why it is not getting me that outlet on my VDM?

On the Module setup page, select the VDM. In the middle section if the page will be a choice of Sol mode. Choose Sol Blue. Save the settings. Then reboot the Apex. When it comes back up you should have a new outlet - it's for the royal blue channel.

It is telling me "No Configuration Options Available". The only option on top is VDM_2 even though its the only one there.

That's a beta version IIRC. Update to 4.12-5A12. You can also change the Sol mode using the display head menus. If you still have trouble, contact Neptune support.

Im using these profiles and all seems good, except I just witnessed my first lightning storm using this set up.... something doesn't seem right. I get the flashes and different units light up, BUT in between flashes its bright white and steady, until the next flash. Where would I find that setting to change. My storm profile is exactly like yours, I double checked. Thanks for your help!

Russ,

If I don't want the AI's on at 100%, but say 55% or some other number, is this where I set that number? I cut a section from your code on the first page as an example, and I assume I would do this to each of the 3 colors

[ RB_Rise ]
Ramp Time: 60
Start Intensity: 0
End Intensity: 100 (This is where I add my % number?)

Thanks

Yes, just modify each color as needed. Be sure to make the corresponding change in each of the three profiles for each color.

Russ,

Thanks again for your help. I ended up having to email Neptune (which responded within two hours so absolute kudos to them in my book). For the Junior I ended up having to load the new Beta version then deleting the VDM Module. When it re-appeared it gave me the option for the Blue. Thank you again for your help.

Chris

Russ, et al,

I have this configured, and I can't get the lightening to work. The lights dim, but that is it. I changed the probability to 100 and still nothing. Any ideas?

Also, when I added the VDM, I was never presented an option to select the SOL Blue. I had to do that via the display unit. It added the Royal as another AI Blue so I assume the last one in the series of the 3 was the Royal. Not sure if this is a result of the Beta or just my luck.

Anyway, I tested the Storms feature by selecting the On feature on the dashboard. What am I doing wrong?

Justin,

First, get the probability down to about 25% or so. At 100%, it will be a constant lightning. Set your lightning intensity to 100%. Set your Light Maximum Intensity to aroud 35%. Lastly, set your cloud light intensity to 15, cloud duration 5, cloud time to 50%. See what those settings provide.
