Algae Blenny from Hell....

I have an Algae Blenny, he is big, has like eyelashes. This guy is a bully, and it has been difficult to add additional fish to the tank. he has killed a Manderin, and I just lost a nice orchid dotty back. To be honest I don't know if the Blenny killed him, or if it got into my Vortec, but he was nearly cut in half.

Have you ever had such trouble with a blenny?

Some of the lawnmower blennies get pretty large. I have seen them have issues with other types of blennies.

I have had lawnmowers and mandarins in the same tanks for decades now and never seen those two types of blenny have issues of any type.

And the Frimandi and lawnmower shouldn't have any issues either.

I actually think he got into the impeller of my Vortec....and it carved him up.... I should have had a sleeve on it....

I know it makes sense to cover the propeller pumps. I have 5 Tunzes in my tank for the last 10 years and not one has the cover on it. Covers were a maintenance pain.

In 10+ years I haven't had a fish show up chopped. And I have kept pipefish and seahorses in the tank.

I keep a highly populated tank (130+ fish at the moment). I think if a fish is getting chopped then in might have been in a weak state to begin with.
