Algae free magnets

Hi,

I've just received my order with my new Hammerhead magnet. I've tried it on my 120gal tank, but it seems to be too strong for my tank. I think the glass is only 3/8", it hard to move and it skips. Can i return it and get the next one down?

Thanks,
Peter

Hi Peter,

Generally we are unable to take products back that are used, however give me a call at 317-895-9005 and we'll see if we can help you out. Keep in mind that going down to the Piranha could give you trouble in getting off the really hard and built up diatoms and coralline on the glass, where the hammerhead should be able to get it just fine.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Thanks,
Jeremy

its gets smoother the more you use it. after about a week it gets a little better. they are strong. Got mine from premium as well. I really like it.

Personally I'd keep it and just add some sort of soft spacer in between the outside magnet and the glass. That way you can adjust to be as strong as you like. Just a suggestion. My mag cleaner is sort of weak and it drives me nuts.

use the white pad that comes with it if that helps. give you a buffer. its its smooth and weak it wont get off the harder stuff.

Putting the outer magnet in a sock helps too. :)

And Lecher: Is that a Mitchell in your avatar pic?

Yes it is a Mitchell B-25. I was involved with its recovery out of local lake. Supposedly it's one the few with a bottom and top turret.

Very cool! :) I got to fly in one going to Oshkosh a long time ago, my Grandfather flew them during WWII.

ditto this suggestion.

furthermore: I'd strongly suggest getting an acrylic safe pad and running it on the inside (wet) magnet- even if you have a glass aquarium. This will reduce the magnetic attraction force as well as reduce wear to the inner scrub pad. Save the scrub pad for the tough coralline algae jobs. An inside pad will actually clean the fuzzy green algae more efficiently than the coarse black scrub pad.
