Very nice setup.

I was considering grabbing a couple of pipefish to put into my 34 gallon Red Sea Max, but I keep hearing that pipefish need relatively calmer waters than seahorses.

I have a hippocampus reidi, and during feeding (which can last 3-4 hours), I turn off all powerheads so he can grab the food more easily. After the feeding, I turn on the powerheads once more for the night until the next day when feeding starts again.

So would a pipefish mind that kind of water flow in a 34 gallon - mainly the nighttime flow when it is obviously much stronger? I have two 155 gph return pumps, along with a Hydor Koralia 1 (400gph) that I honestly don't turn on as much, except when to feed my corals. I just wanted to know how tolerant they are of strong water current.

Well if pipefish like calm water then mine are in the wrong tank.I have 2 Koralia#4's and a Mag 12(1200gph) return pump,i keep maybe 8 SPS corals,so i need strong water current.I never shut mine down, they don't seem to mind the high water flow.I used to feed them live ghost and mysis, but awhile back i started mixing frozen FW mysis and in a matter of days they were only picking at the frozen stuff cause it was easier for them. Now i just soak a cube of shrimp in Garlic and throw it in,they have become used to eating aggressively, mostly due to the anthias being lightnin quick at eating food. But i usually throw in half cube of Spirulina/brine shrimp to fill them up.

You need to soak FW foods (like mysis) in Selcon, as FW foods don't have all the nutrition SW fish need in it.
