Ambient sunlight?

I'm just curious as to if afternoon (12-3) sunlight would matter much for a crocea, maybe even derasa. It's not direct sunlight, nor is it very bright through the shades, but I noticed on one end it could help the situation of possibly havine one. I own a Red Sea Max, and only have 110 W 50/50 powercompacts over it, so I realize this is an iffy situation.

It may just have to be my little experiment.

Opinions?

I have young tridacnas in direct sunlight - they are extending mantle beautifully to feed under the sun.
With direct sun the only problem is possibility of rapid tank overheating.

Hal of my tank would get direct sunlight for a few hours a day, and wow what a difference! Immediately upon impact, the light would cause mantle extension and slightly more opening of the clam. Heat and algae were problems though.
