Amino acids .vs RottiFeast & OysterFeast

I have absolutely no interest in educating you. sorry.

you can go ahead and insult KZ as much as u want, it not mine lol ... but dont judge mine, and MANY others observation and experience.... if you dont know what "makes coral tissue thicker" means, then I can not help.

maybe you can read Darryl's reply with regards to AAs ... maybe he would be interested in telling you the science behind it ... I really doubt you having any sort of experience.

you seem to love to follow me, and make insulting statements like above, questioning my observations [in a rude and sarcastic way] ... which only makes u look worse! anyone, with ANY experience with keeping corals, knows that we try to duplicate the conditions in the ocean ... to make them look like they do in the ocean, so when we speak about dosing ALK, SALT, CA++, Trace elements, AMino Acids, different particle foods and so on, we are only refering to "KEEPING NSW levels" NOT elevated levels. .... if your corals are colored up, Amino acids dosing will make them BROWN. if you have algae, AA dosing will fuel your algae, if you have pale corals, as result of loss of AAs ... dosing AA will help coral re-build its Tissue.
Amino acids, are just Ammonia basically, so if unused ... it will just turn into no3.

or maybe ure just a good troll :) in which case, well done lol

You've turned this into some oddly emotional mudslinging contest, so I'll keep my reply short. I'm sorry if you felt insulted earlier, it wasn't my intention and I thought that was some claim that an additive company was making. You seem to have turned aquarium additives and the nonsense that some of the companies spew into some sort of gosphel where it takes faith to believe in them and pointing out that there is little to no science to back up their use is blasphemous.

What Darryl is saying in no way supports your claim that dosing amino acids will make coral tissue thicker, and I don't think that was his intention when he made that statement. In fact, it supports the notion that amino acids in general are a superfluous and unneccessary additive.

P.S. How do you go about determing the amino acids and trace elements levels of your aquarium? I ask since you seem to know how to maintain NSW levels in your aquariums.

Peter. ridiculous argument. you have dragged me down and are beating me with experience LOLOL

lets say I go home, and my corals are pale.... cause I decided I am not feeding my fish ... I have placed them on diet.

I dose Amino acids.

I check corals in 48 hours after dosing AA, the colour has came back, and the tissue is stronger/thicker, with more colour. [I really cant explain to you what I mean about the thicker tissue part ... maybe its cause English is not my first language ... you should ask those who use the term "tissue is thin" and ask them what the opposite means lol ]

what happened there ?
please explain to me, what you would conclude from the above little experiment ?

secondly, do you understand the notion, that if you have enough food, you wont require more ? and if you do not have enough food, you will require more ?
a fat person, with a large GUT, who just had a complete meal of steak and vegies, will not require Vitamines or B12 pills .... while a Vegan, who only eats some vegies, will require B12 pills. does this make sense to you ? if so, then think about amino acid dosing the same way. thats what Darryl said ... in a well fed reef, there is no need for Amino acids, just like no need for B12 with a steak meal. but in a reef with little feeding, A vegan ... B12 might be needed ;)

I am used to conducting studies, experimenting, observing the outcome, and making logical conclusions based on it. I have done that in Univ while getting My PhD, I do it in hospital once a week, and also at my day job ... so yes, I have made my observations my gospel .... you are welcome to think I am just reading product labels though.

lastly, you said you have experience with Amino acids ... tell us about your experience with them please ... not same as taking acid and watching the sun shine ...

What would you guys use to get some coloration back in bleached corals?

If the system you have normally supports healthy corals that grow and are colorful, then all you do is put them in a low light area of the tank and wait.

I've had fully bleached corals take 4-6 months to get the zoo back and then to color up.

Reef fuel works wonders. I had a browned out "blue acro" from a fellow reefer and with in a week of using 1/2 dose x2 of the aquavitro reef fuel. I noticed a significant coloration

Why would my nitrates be increased by the use of ozone?

I am getting zero detectable nitrates using Salifert. I really wanna see some pink while looking through the side of the vial but nothing.

Yes I do carbon dose.

I've used both AA's and Oysterfeast in the past, and no longer use them. I adjust my total nutrient load up/down by feeding my fish more or less. I think more in terms of total nutrient load, as opposed to the source of the nutrients... feeding more IMO produces the same results as dosing AAs and Oysterfeast, and generally costs less and keeps the fish happier.
