I don't have energy to stay long. There really should be a facetime with a ton of people to share info, typing leaves out sooooooo many details.....I wish I could respond to more of the reply's in this thread, but I'm wiped. And, I'm on the verge of getting all out, please don't pm me asking for individuals, it's listed all as one on the cmas forum.
Cut gigs can certainly heal. I can't remember how many times I've ripped different gigs. Rips don't kill them. About half of mine came cut, this is the one most obvious, it doesn't get more obvious than this:
Yes, that's the mouth on the edge. Not only did it live for a few years now, but survived being shipped to California 2 months ago! Don't write off a cut gig. I wouldn't intentionally purchase one, but they certainly do live and recover just fine. They eventually move the mouth much closer to center over time and regrow the disk.
At the risk of sounding arrogant, not trying to be, and I'm just trying to help as I need help sometimes too, IF, if it's not the gig, it's the practices the reefer is using. Not all gigs are salvageable. To me, both those greens look plenty strong to pull through, JMO.
Deflate typical after 100 percent water change?
I haven't noticed that before. Mine usually look best shortly after a wc.
Mine also look better after the water change.
I have tried to tell everyone, it's HOW you're making water. If you give all attention to detail, and do everything you can to maximum effort, EVERY LITTLE DETAIL, it only improves your odds. Not ripping anyone here, just trying to state the thoughts behind my illness.
Update, mine has declined quickly and it appears that has been PROPAGATED!!! I have asked for a full refund

TBH, I dont' think that's really fair to ask for 100% refund, maybe half but not all. Even though it's not my call, if it was healthy, would it matter when it looks awesome? When inflated you can't see it anyways. Keep working at it!!!! To me, yours still looks plenty good to pull through if you're diligent.
Definitely hasn't been propagated. That isn't possible with gigs.
I disagree with this. I believe I could cut a gig, and planned on it, but my destructive life has sent me down the liquidation avenue. But that's opening a whole other conversation, I'm sure with arguments that's why I wanted to have it in my back pocket with living specimen and pics before I started that, and I'm not typing that-too much time. Not to mention, it's not like cutting a BTA, and when the next knuckle head reads it, he's gonna try cutting his gig and kill it. That's why I tried to steer clear of the cutting is possible conversation. So for all you newbies, GIGS CAN NOT BE CUT.
Don't have time to search link but you can google it. I think it caused him to leave the hobby so he may have deleted his account. Here is a screen shot of the first page with his user name. But you can definitely find it on a google search.

Nemoboy's experience was a disaster on multiple levels. It's unfortunate that he received cut gigs, but how he handled them made the situation a lot worse.

I totally agree, lack of proper..... (fill in the blank).... Way too many to get at one time, even for me and I think gigs are easy.
But to sum up, I still think if you guys do 100% water changes in evening (more if it gets cloudy sooner, sign of trouble) and MAKE TOMORROWS WATER AT THIS TIME, then do the next water change as scheduled, definitely keep using cipro, I can't help but think both should pull through, although Pfan, yours has floppy body language, makes me nerveous. Flow is important, not blasting them off the rocks, but the waste must get pushed in and out of the mouth area. Just keep that in mind. Even if they move, they're stupid. High flow will keep and help them, lower flow may make them look better, but it's not helping their health. Bitter medicine syndrome.
Making water at the same time every day WILL improve it's chances, and not pulling off a vat or your DT. Aerate. No skimmer, but I did use a HOB skilter filter, a surface skimmer I kept an air stone in the back of, with a foam pad I kept in my sump on call normally, to pull out floaties when I was away. Even if it only helps a tiny bit, that might be the tiny bit it needs.
Good luck guys! I love to read these stories!
