Nice setup! Hope you pulled through the storm ok!

Thank you...I'm luckily located in Williamsburg Brooklyn...no flooding where I am...never lost power...I've actually setup several threads on this forum under NY Reef Club's forum, NR and MR offering locals affected by the storm to hold livestock/make RODI water for them being that I have so much room in this system...as well as my 10g QT and my daughter's 5.5g fishless pico...

I've got 3 people so far supposed to be bringing livestock for me to hold today until they can stabilize their systems. So if you know of anyone in my area that is affected...please tell them to PM me so that I can help them...I don't have a car so I can't get to Long Island, Staten Island and Manhattan where they were heavily hit...there's also a massive gas shortage all around NY/Jersey...so it's hard for those further out to get to me as well...public transportation has been devastated as well...

I'm not doing this for a fee/for anything in return. I'm just concerned about not only my fellow NY reefers but for their livestock. The devastation is so bad that they showed people on the lower east side of Manhattan dumpster diving for food that a grocery store threw out and is possibly contaminated. These people have enough to worry about and I don't want them worrying about their reefs/livestock as well. So if you're in the area...and you have power...reach out and help your neighbors...please!

If you can help...pm me for the link to a thread with the most responses from locals that may be in your area to help branch out and reach these reefers as well. Hope this isn't against any RC rules and I will delete if need be...but things are BAD... I know of a few guys that have been running upwards of 500g systems on generators for days that may not have power for another 7-10 days....people that have already had large systems crash and others on the verge. The reefing community is an amazing group of people...so I'm just trying to make connections to help those in need. Sorry to ramble...but it means a lot to me.

Thats really not as bad as u make it out to be! I have a monster rats nest stapled to the wall :)

It feels that bad having to stare at it everyday... my bed is to the right of the tank...one day I'll muster up the patience to sit down and organize it...

Tank looks good and it cool to hear you kid has a tank too. My daughter wants me to set up a tank so she can have a pajama cardinal, she loves them for some reason.

Thank you! My kid's love looking at the tanks and having their own...not the maintenance or shopping aspect...so it's all on Mommy...lol. My 10yr old son is the "owner" of the yellow watchman goby have had him since we started the hobby...so he moved from the pico's in to the 40B as his final home. So the 40B is a Mommy/son tank and the 5.5g that's my daughter's is very basic...

Her livestock list is very limited...for now...
scripps acro
purple montipora digitata
green birdsnest
gsp
kenya tree
green palys
pompom xenia
blue octodes macro
red grape macro
dragons breath macro
AOG's
gorilla nipple zoa's
and a few other tiny frags of zoa's/palys, etc.

Here's a few pics of the my daughter's 5.5g...can't really see much b/c I have GU10 leds over it...d.i.y. ac70 fuge w/ chaeto/carbon/filter floss...very simple setup...

There's a blue spotted shroom behind the feather duster on the sand that my daughter smelled skimmate from a huge bubble king skimmer at my fav lfs and got it at a discounted price of $5 for smelling it...lmfao...we had to have fun with her...should have made a video her expression/response was priceless...

Great system! Inspirational...I just got my 225 reef + 75 fuge going again a few months ago after years. Do you get any of your livestock locally here in Brooklyn?

Love the pico... I'd love to see some pics where I can tell what I'm seeing, though .... Lolz

Lmao...I'm really sorry...I've tried with the point and shoot, cell phone, android photo apps, everything...they either turn out effed up and blue or I lose patience and am ready to break sh*t...you should just be able to point and push a stupid button and magic should happen...not all this "extraness"

I know, huh.... Why are things so confuzzeling? By the way, confuzzeling is confusing and puzzling..... On the other hand, Why do pretty girls always have awesome hobbies? Sorry, I'm 15 and couldn't resist asking..... Lolz

Thank you and nice! I wish I could go that large but I think that I'm at my max being in an apartment and on the 6th floor. I got most of my corals in Brooklyn and if you live here...you already know who is my favorite lfs. I'm sure I can't mention them...but pm me and I'll give you info. They are absolutely amazing, actually care about their livestock and won't sell to someone who is ill prepared to sustain the livestock and I'll leave it at that. Gotta tank thread on this 225?

Awww...lol...you never know never judge a book by it's cover! I honestly don't know if I can answer your question...but I'll give it a shot. I'm the only person I know in my circle (before I started trying to meet other local reefers)...either fresh/salt...everyone always talks crap about me...I'm the crazy fish lady instead of the crazy cat lady...seriously. My daughter (my oldest) is 11...(I'm 30) and she said she hopes I never have another kid b/c it will have gills. I'm not your average girl/woman...I hate depending on people so...I'm one that likes to fix things myself...fixed my wash machine by replacing the drain motor and spin mechanism, kitchen aide mixer, in the process of fixing my dryer and all kinds of stuff...but I can't figure out how to take pics of a reef tank. I do everything on my own and it's quite intimidating to men...it was to my ex-husband and it is to my boyfriend. You're young and there will be a lot of "finding yourself" going on as you grow older...this used to be an embarrassing hobby that I kept to myself...but I grew to embrace it...so basically don't be afraid to be yourself and you might just run into a "beautiful girl" that's completely into your hobby and willing to learn. I've heard of several adult couples who reef together...

I'm not hitting on you by any means, but chicks who dig reptiles or fish seem to be hard to find, but when you do, they are pretty cool.... I fix whatever needs to be fixed I'm our house as well..... Sound like a nice woman....
