Anderson Family Reef - 1200 Gallon System

Yeah I have some scrap sheets of 1" thick acrylic, 6 & 4 foot long maybe 8-10inches wide... I just can't find myself to use them for anything though as it seems so wasteful :D "Oh I'll use it for baffles in a sump... who uses 1" thick baffles!", I could use it as a eurobrace but I don't exactly plan on making any tanks in the future, maybe a sump, but 8" high sump is kind of lazy and might be useless.

So yeah I could recycle and use it on everything but I'll kick myself whenever I DO need thick acrylic and don't have it.

Sounds like you have enough acrylic to make a sweet rimless frag tank! Buy some thinner 3/8" for the bottom and use your thick stuff for the sides! ;-) or just hang tight till you think of something you need! That's cool!

Yeah, that actually is one of the ideas to use it... but a 6 foot by 4 foot tank takes up a lot of real estate that I really don't have, even if I do put it below my tank, I don't know if my back can take bending down to arrange frags and what not!

My good friend Terence is moving closer to Neptune so his tank is coming down...

Watching these bad boys with the promise to return some frags when he gets his new tank set up and rocking! No brainer right? Actually there are only a few fish friends I would provide this service for and Terence is one of them!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I've been meaning to ask this, and sorry if it was addressed earlier, but why do your framing squares have the bottom side near the corner removed?

Good question and no we have not addressed this as of yet.

I notch them so I can tool the silicone while keeping the filter box squared and spaced out correctly...
