Anderson Family Reef - 1200 Gallon System

Awww those poor montiporas! Just seeing that picture gives me flashbacks to elementary school when my dad decided he would try to give me a hair cut.... wore a hat for a month, it was so bad the teacher allowed me to wear it in class!

Sorry to see that, I love your tank. I hope you passed the kids actions on to his parents.

You missed (but I'm sure you saw) an unbelievable ending. All in the very last second and if that "last" play wasn't reviewed it would have been a different history.

Joe

Thanks Joe!

Her parents know! But even better is that we will be more careful in the future!

Thank heavens for Sports center!! :p

That was crazy. The kids do the same thing when they come to my house and want to use the magnet to clean the glass on the tank. Great recovery and you should make a little change on all those frags.

My kids ask all the time to help clean the glass with the magnet but I always politely decline! It only takes once on an acrylic tank!

Good point! Good time for some extra cash!!

It is nice to see most of it recovered. Hopefully the neighbors kids don't do it again.

Joe

Spent 3 hours digging out and cleaning up the mess that happened in 2 seconds! Best I can figure is that the pump ran in the sand for about 10 minutes before we caught the problem!

That neighbor kid is banned from the basement!!! :uzi:

Hmmm you present a good point! Maybe I could graft some temporary fins on the monti for a season while the original grows out... Maybe a rainbow of Montipora colors...now you have me thinking!!!

Cool story! Thanks for sharing!

Glad the recovering process has come along okay. I am so hesitant to put pumps with magnets in eyesight of other people.. no matter what age, an accident can become a disaster. Everything looks great still! Any new fish coming your way anytime soon? I am always amazed with your purple tangs/clown tang together.

Totally understand and agree! Next system will be designed a little differently to hide the pumps better!!

I want to refresh my Chromis school and add some more schooling fish. I have some great tangs in the sump that I would like to add to the display some day like my floweri, Red Sea sailfin, orange shoulder, Atlantic blues, blue tang and a few others but I know they will all battle it up busting my acros all over!!! Always wanted to add a sohal tang again as well with the clown...hmmmm we will see...

Thanks for chiming in buddy!

I was talking to Dustin who has another thread about his new baby. He told of a story where a kid poured milk into a tank because he thought the fish where thirsty.

This is one advantage to being old. Not only are the kids to old but most of the grand kids are older now also.
