Anderson Family Reef - 1200 Gallon System

luckily in my age group friends are only starting to have kids, so i have no kids around who could comprehend doing something like that, let alone be tall enough to do it.

But its certainly food for thought, never even crossed my mind something like that could happen.

No scratches to the glass from the incident i hope?

I was talking to Dustin who has another thread about his new baby. He told of a story where a kid poured milk into a tank because he thought the fish where thirsty.

This is one advantage to being old. Not only are the kids to old but most of the grand kids are older now also.

Joe

Hopefully skim milk! Thats crazy!

Joe, I think some days it would be easier to do this after the kiddos grow up a little... I count this as a practice run!!

Thanks for sharing that story!

Buddy get ready! You never know... Those little kids can jump!!

The tank is fine just some mad tube worms in the sand that got un-burried!

It's rocking! Thanks for checking in! Been busy with the holidays!

Your tank is looking great!

Awww those poor montiporas! Just seeing that picture gives me flashbacks to elementary school when my dad decided he would try to give me a hair cut.... wore a hat for a month, it was so bad the teacher allowed me to wear it in class!

A high and tight would have fixed that.

I caught my 3 year old standing up on a chair and throwing something into my 60 gallon. Ran over to find out that it was a plastic toy (thank God), then as I started to fish things out, I found, Iron Man, Batman, some lego's some plastic building blocks and more. The good thing, was they were all plastic toys. I am praying I don't experience, milk, apple juice etc... in the future.

Seriously. My youngest is 26, The youngest grandchild is 8 (and they are not local). So that is not a problem for me but I do remember a time when my oldest boy got into methanol blue and I had to rush him to the hospital only to find it out they use it as a die for tests.

Joe

Well, it is not entirely harmless. I believe you are referring to methylene blue. Here is the MSDS sheet on it. As you can see it is not very friendly at increased doses so it was probably very smart of you to get your kid to the hospital just in case.

Thanks for sharing!! I'm not alone in this crazy idea to rock a large SPS reef with many external hazards ages 2-10!!

I have found that the plastic toys cause no harm, neither do diet sodas in my experience! 😜

Reef on brother!!
