Anemone Enemies

lol.. anyhow, So I've been reading some FAQ on BTA and it says that one of their enemies is the bristle worm, and I know most people have these in their tanks. Have any of you guys ran into a problem with them? I see the occasional worm when I turn the lights off, and I know there are quite a few hiding inside the rocks.

And another enemy listed was powerheads, I have a couple Koralia's, do I have to cover them with sponge? I am picking up an anemone soon and everything looks like its up to par with what I've been reading. Just wondering about the worms and the powerheads.

I don't think the worms will both your Anenome unless you have a ton of them or very large ones. I've had a tank for quite some time and there are worms in the tank and the anenome does fine.
As for the power heads, the only concern would be if the Anenome were to become unlodged from it's rock and then the power head could suck it up. I have also had my anenome recently become dislodged and it never got sucked up and ended up attached to the glass of my tank. Ed

as far as I know, BWs would never harm a nem. I've seen a few right next to my GBTA.

for powerheads, the way I see it, if you give your nem a 'good' spot, where it's happy (good lighting/flow conditions) it will stay there, away from powerheads.

If the nem is unhappy for any reason, it will venture around seeking a better spot.

If you have insufficient lighting, it may move up the side glass right up into the powerhead

I just saw your (2) 96w pc listing.
I'm no expert, but I'd guess that would be 'borderline' on sufficient lighting. probably depends on which nem you choose, I guessing a bubble tip?

It's not bristleworms that will harm your anemone, it's a certain type of bristleworm which in all likelyhood you do not have. Large or small, most bristleworms are not only harmless, but they're also beneficial to a reef aquarium. Also, I wouldn't worry too much about the Koralias of all the powerheads on the market they probably have the least damage potential.

thanks for the info guys, yes it's going to be a bubble tip.. well.. I have 192 watts of PC total in a 46 gallon tank. it's over 4 watts a gallon.. I think I am in the clear?
