Anemone help

I came downstairs late and he was on top of my powerhead. I thought he was a goner. I turned the powerhead off and went to bed. This morning I came down and he is in the corner. I know he will move around some more until he finds a place to call home. I dont want him in the corner though, for one there is pretty signifigant bristle worm that hangs out where he is. I read somewhere that bristle worms may nibble on them. I will say he went to the croner that my clowns like to sleep in and they were investigating him. I have also read that you can put rocks or something to deter them from being where you dont want them to be....is this true?

What kind of anemone? How old is your tank? How long have you had the anemone? Is it damaged? What lights? What parameters?

Yep, need soem more info. As far as using rocks to deter them, the anemone will just wander right over the rocks to where it wants to be.

Yes thats it, I couldnt find it this morning to add to it. I guess it would help if I got more than 2 hrs of sleep. All my parameters are good. My ammonia is 0, my ntrites are 0, my nitrates are 5-10, Po4 is zero(running GFO reactor), Salinity is 1.024, KH is 7 drops or 123.5 I think. I have a 150MH sunpod and the tank is a 34G Solana. My tank is only 2.5 months old and I am learning that I probally shouldnt have put it in there yet, but the guy at the local fish store told me it was ok and me being a newbie I did it. I trust the guy and I dont think he was just trying to sell me something. Either way it is what it is and now I need to try to make the beat of it. I think I am going to get a Alkylinity test kit to take the place of the KH kit. Are KH and Alkylinity test different or is the KH test the same? The corner the Anemone is in, he has a bunch of snails under him. I believe they are dead and vacant shells but they are still under him. He has "colored up" and is not as white as he once was. I feed him last night and he ate what I put in his tentacles......thats a good sign....isnt it?

Im pretty sure its a Sebae anemone. It has purple tips

Yes, its a Sebae, or Heteractis Crispa. They often live in the sand but can also live on the rocks just fine. It sounds like you have a good setup for him, aside from the tank's age. Eating is a good sign too. I would suggest small bits of food every other day until it turns a brownish color. As long as its white, its not getting much food from the lighting. Once it gets some color you can cut back on the feeding. The only other thing that may help keep him settled is a 10% water change every week until you get to about 6 months, but that may not be necessary.

Sebae anemones are very difficult to keep. My suggestion would be to return it to the store. You need to wait a few more months for your tank to become more established, and then maybe try a bubble tip anemone. They are much hardier than sebaes.

I have 2 bar or misbarred clowns. I dont believe they are compatible with the Bubbletip. I do a 15% WC every week and I plan to go to a 1-2 gallon every other day....maybe every day time allowing. I may call and try to return him but I really dont know if that option is on the table.

Are the clowns Ocellaris? If so, mine have both types and are hosted by both types without trouble. Its more about attitude of your particular clowns whether or not they will accept either type.

It is possible that the sebae will survive. The most difficult part is getting them settled in and colored up, as you are learning. If you are stuck with it, just keep doing what you are doing now, its the best chance it'll have.

As far as compatibilty, I don't have any true percs, but that doesn't mean they won't accept a BTA also. The chart is mostly a "best odds" list. Some clowns will never go near ANY anemone. Just FYI.

when anemones die they begin to melt away. it will be slumped down like a bag of mush and the tissues dissolve away. if you touch it, it falls apart. and probably the most definitive sign is that it will be the worst thing you have ever smelled in your entire life!!

It seems it found a home in the corner. There are some hermit crabs behind him. Will they be able to cross him or do I need to move them?
