Anemone ID

I've been researching anemones and after much thought decided maybe a Long tentacled anemone (Macrodactyla doreensis) would be the best for me. They like to keep their foot in the sand and aren't prone to wondering up the rock work (where my tunze stream is).

So when the local lfs had what appeared to be a partially bleached but otherwise healthy looking LTA, I brought it home. When first introduced into my tank I rested it on a rock ledge for a minute so I could clear a spot for it in the sand bed, well within 2 minutes it was firmly attached to the rock and the only way I was going to get it off was in pieces and it has sat there ever since (a week tomorrow), just burrowed a little deeper into the crevice.
It is bleached but not as bleached as it looks in the picture and the foot is orange. so could it be a Macrodactyla doreensis? or is it some thing else

RBTA my friend Im sure the pic makes it look worse then it is! I have just been there, so just be sure to try to feed krill soaked in some type of vitamins i use vitia chem. Feed every day if it will accept it and when it gets better color you can start to reduce feeding. Also water condition play a big role for recovery .

I think it's LTA, based on the striped oral disk. It is a little bleached, and will need some TLC. Also, the tentacles look a little stunted, which could indicate starvation. Just feed it often. If your lighting's ok, it should pull through. The fact that the column is still red and that it attached quickly is a good sign I think.

Good luck!

What does the underside of the disc look like? Are there bumps on it? ( can't remember how to spell it, but it starts with a "V" )

Except for being firmly planted in a rock It appears to be M. Doreensis. It is still very small and has been poorly treated so I may have to wait until it's healthier before making a firm ID.

Toddrtrex, Being buried in a rock makes it hard to see its underside. All I can tell you is that the column is orange and the bumps are spelled verrucae :p

LOL Now if I can just remember how to spell it in the future. :)

From what you have said, it sure does sound like an LTA, I had a stressed out one that did have its foot inside a rock for about a week.

I bet once it colors up it is going to be great looking, I had one go from,

Here is a better pic of it showing the true colours, as you can see it went for a walk down to the sand bed
