Anemone not doing well still...

My anemone still hasn't attached its base. It inflates up fine during the day and at night shrivels to almost nothing. I am 99% sure it's the large clownfish bothering which swims against the net to be in the anemone. I may try removing it but I'm worried the anemone itself is just done for.

When I moved it today the base was hard. Not the whole base - just the bottom 1cm or so all around. Is this indicative of something??

It seems to only attach the SIDES of its base, not the bottom. It also doesn't dig into the sand at all. I can't see any injuries or anything.

Why did you move it?

Also, I'd try to separate the clown from the anemone to give the nem a chance to settle itself in.

Is the anemone eating at all?

It ate in the beginning but has not eaten since.

I guess I could remove the clown and return it to the LFS

Yeah, you don't need to get rid of the little guy...just buy a pasta strainer or a strawberry basket or something of the sort, something clear that's got plenty of holes for flow, but won't let the clown get to the anemone.

Well, I managed to catch the large clownfish fairly easily and have temporarily removed him.

The anemone has gotten bigger today than its ever been before and it hasn't shrunk up tonight (yet). I'm hoping this was the ticket! My little clownfish is still rubbing in it but this one is gentle and like 1/10 the size.

Cool :)

I wouldn't leave the two clowns apart for too long though, you don't want the little guy turning into a little girl!

Not quite sure the little guy is a guy!

The big one chases the little one away 90% of the time. 10% of the time they are together in the anemone happily. I believe it's just an accepting friendship :) They never swim around together.

I think I'll be giving the clownfish to a friend anyway when I move. Will probably get ocellaris instead.

Well, the anemone ate today (I think)

I turned off all the flow and fed it a piece of shrimp. It scrunched up on itself and I didn't see it spit the food away for 15 mins. I had to go after that but Im gonna assume it ate it :) I'll try feeding it again on Wednesday and stay longer! I'm hoping this thing will fully recover now that the large clown is gone.

What kind of anemone are we talking about? I don't think you gave the name of it unless I completely missed it.

Sorry - it's an H. Crispa.

I believe it's now bigger than it has ever been before. I'm really hoping it starts to improve significantly over the next few days. If there's anything positive I'll take pics :)
