Anemone on it's way out?

Purchased Sebae anemone (not sure of the species I received) and it was shipped overnight to me. Item was shipped dry and I temperature acclimated it before adding it to the tank.

I've kept BTAs in other systems without any problems, but this situation just feels wrong. Wanted to get y'alls thoughts on it.

Tank:
Size - 60 gallon cube
Age - 1.5 years
Amm - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 0-1 (minimal)
Lights - 60w LED

Here are pictures of it in the shipment bag:

After I put it in, I placed it on the rock and everything seemed good. Here is a picture of it in the tank after a couple hours

One clown took to it overnight though and might have abused it. I awoke to it looking a little bit up and somewhat dissolving. I removed it from the tank (not attached) and put it in mason jar with tank water. It was just coming apart when I removed it (very gently too). Here are some pictures from the removal:

Think it's on it's way out? Thanks for any ideas/thoughts.

That is it's foot in your hand. Can you flip it over and lets see it?

Looks like it just needs some flow, prob away from the clown, yeah.

I have it in a tomato crate where the clowns cannot get to it.

Here is a picture of the top as requested:

How is it doing in it? Can you put up a video or anything?

Not much change. Little guy is on his foot (not attached to the container) and it looks like his insiders are coming out of his mouth. Obviously stressed but what I'm most worried about is how the creature's tissue (nothing along the tentacles I could see) just flew off when I moved it off the rockwork. There is also little change from yesterday with the exception of him being more 'inside out' if you will.

Here is a video. I can take a higher res video if this does not help

Thanks for checking in.

*Edit: Tried grabbing another picture. He's in the back on top of the rocks next to my skimmer. Hard to grab a 'good' picture without disturbing him which I'm trying to avoid.

I assume it doesn't smell? I assume it doesn,t since having it in your hand like that will either cause you to gag in digust or you have a bad nose. :D

As long as it doesn't smell, that means it's not dead yet which means it has the possibility of coming back. Definitely keep the clown(s) away from it as I've seen clowns kill anemones that were trying to acclimate. Despite what others claim to have seen, clowns down "tend" to their host and will never help an anemone get better.

Here is the video:

+1 to restriction of clowns.

Can you provide some flow to it? It really needs to sway a bit and it looks like it has some zooanthe in it. So what light are you providing to it?

Maybe even some rubble rock in there for it to attach to, so that it feels secure and not just floating around.

Noted, thanks! My shrimp might have picked at it a bit last night too, not sure but the clown definitely kicked it's butt. They're separated now though thanks to a plastic crate I have.

Thanks for the responses.

Lights are 20x 3w LEDs

I figured out the video option on my 60D so hopefully this video is a little better

I'll keep this thread updated with pictures as time goes on. Hoping for the best

If those pictures are in order it looks to be a bit better.

The center is deflating some.

Is that a piece of rock in there with it? Looks like it.

It looks like it attached too???

Pics are in order but over a timeframe of about ten minutes. It might just be lighting and angles.

There is rock in the container with it now but the anemone is sitting on the rock where I placed it. I do not think it's attached yet, might do a very slight jostle tomorrow to check but I am not optimistic yet.

I'll take another couple pictures tonight and then again in the morning. Hopefully progress ;)

Good.. Good luck seems like things are moving, just need to wait to see what direction.

Sorry to say the anemone did not make it through the night. This morning I investigated it and there was a bit more white than you would typically expect. I pulled it closer to the surface for a quick smell test and it failed miserable. After pulling it from the tank, the below image is what I was left with.

Thanks for the help y'all. I will likely not be ordering any more anemones through the mail but rather buying locally. It's just too much of a crapshoot.

It is rough sometimes getting things via the mail.

At least in person you can see it and understand a few things.

I recommend running carbon, if you are not already, to capture and cleanse some of the stuff from the nem from the tank.

+1 on the carbon. I cant for the life of me understand why someone would ship an anemone without water unless they were more concerned about saving the extra 5-10 than the nem arriving healthy.

WAIT... I missed that orig...

Where in the world did you get this??

DRY??!!??

NO WAY...

Complain!

Yea,the original post and pics shows the nem in the bag shipped DRY.
I would absolutely complain and ask for a refund or some kind of compensation for their lack of competence. :debi:

I feel horrible for the animal that someone would even consider doing that. Unless the bag leaked during shipping which is still the shippers fault.

How did the thread make it over a day before someone being concerned about a nem being shipped dry? Your clowns didn't kill it, the idiot shipping an aquatic animal without water killed it. It is absolutely fantastic that you took pictures as evidence that it was shipped without any water at all. I'm not at all surprised that it died on you - unfortunately. You should get a full refund (including shipping), or send you another one free of charge.

Where did you order from? I think everyone should know where you ordered so we can avoid it like the plague.

Guys... Nems are commonly shipped dry. The thought is that they won't foul the water (since there isn't any).

To elaborate, other online vendors prefer to ship with a lot of extra water, say 4x as much as normal, to account for waste. But I've seen many, many wholesalers ship their nems dry, and it was once common practice to do so.
