Anemone Recommendations?

Definitely not new to clowns/nems... But it seems like there is a lot more selection these days.

I have had sebaes and LTAs in the past with great success, 15-20 years ago, hosting clowns and all that good stuff.

I currently have a 75g with a pep, 2 clowns, 1 firefish, and will have a mandarin in the future, soft corals only at this point.

I'm stuck shopping for the right type of nem. I want something that will host my clowns, and won't eat everything else. So my thought is carpets are ruled out, are BTAs the best route to go?

Care, setup, behavior, etc I'm all familiar with. But never having a BTA, there must be a reason they are so commonly used? But I also see a lot of stories of them not hosting clowns.

Never mind lol, if it's the ones in your avatar then yes you could try a BTA. Most people chose them cause they are relatively hardy anemones but no guarantee they will accept it cause it's not the natural host. My perculas wouldn't even look at my haddoni carpet or RBTA and it wasn't till I recently picked up a magnificent anemone and they dove right in.

... BTA, ... But I also see a lot of stories of them not hosting clowns.

Entacmaea quadricolor is the natural host of the following clownfish species:

Amphiprion ephippium
Amphiprion frenatus*
Amphiprion mccullochi*
Amphiprion melanopus
Amphiprion rubrocinctus
Amphiprion akinidynos
Amphiprion allardi
Amphiprion bicinctus
Amphiprion chrysopterus
Amphiprion clarkii
Amphiprion omanensis
Amphiprion tricinctus
Premnas biaculeatus*
(* species only found in E. quadricolor)

I've also seen many tank raised ocellaris and some tank raised percula accepting it.

Thanks for the recommendations... A couple ideas to try out there... Definitely sounds like trial and error with the BTAs.
