Anemone shipping charges?

I need help in the anemone shipping department. I'm in the process of trying to figure out the shipping end of this. What do you guys typically get charged to ship an anemone using the LFS boxes? Fed EX quoted $220 to overnight. UPS quoted $195 to overnight.

The box I have is the standard 20x16x10" high, and have 1 gallon or 8 pounds of water, so weight is 10 pounds (a guess). What should shipping be, what are you guys paying, company you're using? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

That's what I was quoted too for that size box. If you can get away with 6x6x6 or 8x8x8 box and under 7LBs you will likely pay around $86 using UPS.

Also, you can get a half inch styrofoam insulation sheet from Home Depot and cut it to fit a smaller box for temperature control.

Thanks for the insight. Fedex seems to be more reliable around me, UPS is usually late. 10" gig in a 6" box. My new saying lol.

I ship a lot of reptiles. I use 12X9x7 boxes. If you want your price to be under a hundred your going to need to use a box around that size. Also, if you book your shipment through the link below you will get a significant discount on shipping. It's a company that gets a large discount on shipping through FedEx and you use their account number to get the discount as well. It's all legit and approved by FedEx. I've used them quite a few times.

Here is a quote for a 10x10x10 box through that site. Not your zip code but I'm sure the price would be similar.

Thanks guys I appreciate the feedback. I figured 100 is the neighborhood it should be. Thanks for the link pfan151, will check that out. I may need to figure out a different shipping box and method than the one I was planning. The first box will have 2 gigs in it, so I may try to get the "path" figured out with the local fedex store, I don't think 2 gigs will fit in a 10x10. I'm also afraid of the temps with a box that small, but maybe I just weather watch in the coming weeks. Thanks guys! I appreciate your responses!

Will they accept shipping fish and corals/anemones?
How does it work, how do we get it to them?

You don't get it to them. You use their site to set up the shipping label and then it prints out a normal FedEx shipping label. They never have your package at all. It's basically the same as if you printed out a label on your FedEx account but you are using theirs instead. Since they ship a ton of packages they get a much better rate.

I emailed the company to ask about shipping fish and corals and they directed me to their sister site. Everything works the same as on the other site. It actually looks to be even a bit cheaper. For a 10x10 box weighing 10 lbs I got a quote of $80. So even if you needed slightly larger it still shouldn't be over $100.

Have you considered shipping the nem without any water? I don't mean to bring up an old debate, but I'm just curious to know if anyone has seen any breakthroughs or consistency with this topic.
