My gbtas and rbtas were all bleached, now they are coloring back but the wrong color. They are all brown instead of green and red.Just wondering if someone else has experianced this before.
Hey, good to hear they are in recovery mode. I think I read on Karen's Rose Anemones website something about that happening to one of hers. Although zooxanthellae definitely provides part of the color of a rose anemone, a lot of it is also pigmentation. So are the rose bulbs a reddish brown now?
I still have not figured that out yet,I did weekly water changes and feed them twice a week. They got big, some where around 8 to 10'' across.Even while they were bleached they were eating fine. They shrunk down in size, and the tentacles were barely visible.
Maybe something to do with the lighting? I would think the regular water changes would keep the chemistry of the water in good shape. Could you have had a malfunctioning heater? I know that high water temps. can cause bleaching too.
The water temp was high for awhile. My digital thermometer was bad, the water temp hit 93 degrees while the thermometer was showning 76.I have 2 thermometers on my 120, and so far a steady 79 degrees.
Look forward to seeing the pics. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the anemones will take on colors that you like. It's been my observation, that even anemones that don't have the best coloration become quite a spectacle when they grow large and are healthy.
