Picked up some more LR last night, after putting it in the tank i found 2 of these. My first thought was that they were some sort of zoanthid until noticed that they had moved. I believe their some type of rock anenome... You cant really tell by the pics but the tentacles are green.

Can anyone give me advice on what they are and what i should do with them? Right now my tank is a FOWLR with a single ocellaris clown a firefish and a camelback shrimp.

Their footprint is approximately the size of a pencil eraser.

Im new to SW so any help/advice is appreciated

Thanks!

They appear to be a majono (( I butchered the spelling )) --- 99% of reefers considering them to be pests that should be removed.

Sweet, that gives me a some where to start. Thanks! Sorry for the dumb question but: For what reasons are they considered pests? I know anenomes pose potential threats to fish, inverts, and corals but is this type more toxic then most?

I think their really neat, but like i said im just stepping foot into SW so im pretty amazed by any signs of life.

One or two of them are neat, but 50+ of them aren't. ;) They spread fairly quickly and have been known to sting corals.

Aside the fact that they spread rapidly and pose potential threats to any future corals - is their any other reason i should remove them?

I dont plan to add coral to this tank for a while. ill probably switch out my rockwork to better accommodate them when and if i do. Would it be ok to leave them for now? or do they pose any threats to my fish/inverts?

I've had more of the majanos than I'd like to admit. The biggest threat they have posed to my tank however has been to corals. Haven't touched any fish or inverts, and I don't remember reading anything similar from other RC'ers.

They do multiply quickly, and are kind of tough to remove.

Gotcha, thanks for the input! Since i have no corals ATM, I think im gonna leave them be. Also this is a nano so i can easily swap out my rock if they become a nuisance.

They have settled. One has green tentacles while the other is more red/brown.
