Angelfish with cloudy eye/popeye.. please help

Ive got a Scribbled Angel (from DD last month) that has developed a cloudy eye and it is slightly enlarged but not enormous. He eats like a champ and it doesnt appear to be affecting him very much but I'm concerned. He's in a 55 gal QT w/ live rock and some powerheads. Hes also in the w 2 other angels but theyre half his size and zero aggression from anyone. Should I medicate? I dont really want to ruin the biological filtration in there so im debating what to do. He's been like this for a few days now. I soak my PE mysis in garlic and selcon always so hes been getting nutrition plus ive been giving him seaweed and angel formula w sponge.

Ideas??

Also, my water params are good... had some nitrate in the tank but did a 50% or more WC so it should be back in order.

Is it only one eye?

Might be a trauma....But the fact you think it looks raised is a concern. Hopefully Jay H will chime in for you. If it were my fish and I know my water parameters are good I would just monitor for now. If it guess worse then you might want to consider something. It could be flukes, could be trauma, infection????? Hard to tell.....Any chance of a picture?

Its only in one eye and its not the worst case of popeye but is definately puffy and about 50% cloudy. I think he will pull thru since he eats well and is in a big qt. Just looking for advice to see if anyone has some tips. I'll try a pic later

Two most common causes of cloudy eye and eye problems in fish are injury and elevated levels of ammonia and nitrates IME.

First I would look to parameters and correct those if they are a problem.

Look at Melafix as a treatment if bacterial infections sets in. Research product first to see if it is appropriate for you and your system.

And lastly enhance diet with Selcon if you are not already doing so.

Well... I thought my params were good and took a sample to my LFS since my kits are a bit antiquated and they said I have ammonia at 0.25 and nitrite at 0.5 and nitrate at 25. I find this weird since I did a huge WC yesterday but makes sense why my fish is stressed and getting this eye problem. I purchased a bacteria additive called nite-out and immediately added it to stop the cycling in the setup and also bought kanaplex. I added the kanaplex to his food paste (along w selcon and garlic) and fed it to the fish. They all ate no problem but I am noticing the Scribbled is not as outgoing and seems more lethargic (not swimming alot and hanging in/around the rocks). He does come right up when i approach since he knows food is coming.

Hopefully this works!!!!!!

Oh, my ph was very low also around 7.6 per my LFS so I added some reef buffer to bump it up.

Well i checked my params tonite after medication and adding bacterial nite-out and amm and nitrite were 0 while nitrate was around 25. Bumped my ph up to 7.8 -8.0 or so. My fish have been out swimming since i added the bacteria and reef buffer so lethargy is gone but eye remains the same.

Heres a video so u can check it out... Is it bad or will he be fine if it doesnt worsen? Opinions? Oh, im gonna do another WC tomorrow and add buffer again til ph is at 8.0 at least.

Have you ever dosed these fish with prazi? What I see is a bumped eye on the angel, but when the light hits it just right, the fins look cloudy and I think I can see raised areas on its flank. I'm suspecting Neobendenia flukes. There also *may* be a case of impending Cryptocaryon starting up - that also could account for the cloudy fins and the bumps on the Chrysurus.

I see a couple of other issues - having inverts in your quarantine tank hobbles your ability to perform needed treatments in a timely manner. Also, keep the bottom siphoned well, under the LR also. The tank just doesn't look stable to me - the water seems a bit cloudy and the detritus on the bottom needs to be removed. The small ammonia spike is hopefully just an artifact of the test kit used, keep an eye on it though. Nitrite and nitrate are of no real concern right now.

After fighting the cloudy eye then popeye for the last 3 weeks my angel died today. This sux. I tried kanaplex and later prazipro. Also added epsom salt to the water to help the eye but eventually he stopped eating and withered away.
