Another H. Magnifica

AQUA DAVE

Just got these in from my supplier for my 215 show tank for my store.. Two H. Mags and one Greenish redish blueish S. Gigantae..... Here is a pic of the foot for The experts
nem2007.jpg

This one has a Purple foot and Purple tentacles with green tips... The other one sadly had a small tear in its foot or it is splitting....and will not grab onto the rock.

It really looks like its splitting but I have never seen this happen with an H. Mag. Any H. Mag owners have a clone? I did however move it to my nem tank on the side and it is looking decent (Closed mouth and plump tentacles)
It's coloring is identical to the other H. Mag that Elegance has been showcasing....

The S. Gigantae is huge! Almost the size of a dinner plate He has taken refuge in the lower rock stack

After getting them dry or damp shipped, I started off by drip acclimating these bad boys for 3 hours...

Added some true percs and one drop of lugols to the bucket to help in the process..

This is the best way IMO to get your clowns to host the nem.. Acclimate them at the same time in the same bucket

The tear in the foot isn't in the under side which is why I think it might be splitting.. Also the mouth is pulled really tight to the same area as the tear in the foot. No internals are coming out of the area that is torn either. Any input on what to do if I can even do anything but wait would be greatly appreciated.

These pics are taken with the lights off so color isnt coming out that well... When the lights come on, I will post some new pics in the meantime, here is one with the flashlite

I have two magnificas that cloned. They do it by pulling themselves apart throught the mouth. The split starts at the mouth and moves down the column as they continue. I would be concerned that the tear you describe isn't splitting, but instead damage from collection. I once got a ritteri that way and unfortunately it didn't make it. All you can do is provide excellent water quality and hope for the best.

Verrucae is the spots on the underside of the anemones disc. Is that a linckia multifora? If so, I have one just like it..cool little stars aren't they? I wish gas prices weren't so high, I would love to go to your store to see these beautiful anemones.

Yes, they are running in the 215 that I built into my office wall. Making it a clown/anemone display. I also have other inverts in the system as it is built into my invert system. All drains lead to carbon and I have a massive protien skimmer on it. Really all there is are the frag system and the refugium/mangrove planter With cleaner/sexy shrimp. All water perameters are right on. I started this tank about 6 monthes ago and waited until it was healthy enough to add these nems. It was a long wait but the wait was worth it because I haven't seen either ot the two that i put in the show tank show any signs of stress. I also have a tone of flow. Two Tunze 6060 in each back top corner cris crossing the tank, to nano streams on the inside of the overflows pointing at the front glass, and a Vortech on wave simulation mode on the left wall. The wave motion is priceless, and it amazes me that the tenticles on the ritteri stay so rigid and pointed at the light. It looks just like the one on finding nemo if you know what I mean. Also the light that I have over them is a 400w 20k radium might add a 6500 k to the mix soon and only run it for 2 hours a day.

Yeah I've seen a mag split. I've even seen one clone into three different clones. One of the clones died, but it was pretty cool to see a three way mag split. I hope that tear isn't from collecting and shipping. But if it is I hope it heals. I can't wait to see these beautiful anemones in person next year!

Well the Mag. with green tentacles has taken a turn for the worse.... The tear in the foot is getting worse and the intrails are coming out. I think its on its last leg.. Watching it carefully to make sure it doesn't die in the system. The supplier told me that they were stuck on carpet in the holding tanks and the one with the tear was stuck to an acrylic devider and he had someone pull it off. I then told him that if I ever order an anemone again from him that if it was in a hard to remove place that I don't want them to try to remove it and take it off my order. It is a shame that an anemone as beautifull as that had to die because of someone putting an acrylic devider in a tank that wasn't supposed to have anything that they could solidly attach their feed to.

Hope that both anemones will do well. Sorry about the third one.

When H. magnifica divide, they first divide at the foot, in the middle. Mine divided several time in my aquarium. I first see the rock looking through the mouth, then the mouth split and the two side grow apart. The mouth reformed once the two halve completely separated.

It seem like the S. gigantea is doing well in your tank so far. Good luck.

The mag that is doing good has his foot stretched out further than his oral disk..... The one i had before only did this when I first got it and then it started to stretch towards the light. I am wondering if I have too much flow over it.

tankflow.jpg

The two pumps in the corner are tunze 6060 (1400gph) each and the two pumps in the middle between the overflows are tunze nano streams both rated at 1300gph. On the left wall is the Vortech on wave sim. Thanks for the input guys... I appriciated it greatly

Here is a before and after with flow changes

After Changing
