Another mag medication thread

Got my h-mag Janurary all seemed well no deflation. After a few weeks it started to do the night time balling behavior I seemed to have a healthy happy anemone. After about a month I started getting deflation before lighting ramp down, which turned into random deflations, which then turned into spending too much time deflated. Right before I put it in QT the colum and mouth would jiggle in the flow like jello in the current. It didn't have that rigid look like it used to.

Here's the specimine:

Filled a 20gallon Rubbermaid container to 10 gallons, marked the line, added heater, reefkeeper lite temp probe and controller/heater and an old koralia1 powerhead. Oh and egg crate separator. Don't have a picture of it bad in the DT, I was rushing to get the QT filled.

Here it is just added to QT:

Here we are after 12hrs treatment then 12hrs lighting:

Just finished first water change (all will be done from the DT). So far only some balled poo and excess amounts of slime. Most of the slime built up on the power head which helped cleanup.

That looks like a real nice one. Looks promising.

Hope so. Haven't seen a deflation since last night but then again I can't exactly watch it all day. Gonna do at least 5 days regardless.

I've been in saltwater since 2008, and this is the first one I've seen in person. So it better hang in there!

Beginning of light cycle #2

Very nice to see. Can you hold your hand over the light slightly to block the camera from the glare, but still let it go in the tank?

How is it's mouth and tentacles?

Tentacles have been fat and bushy as ever and haven't seen a deflation. The mouth is closed unless its expelling some pellety poo. My digital camera has been dead and I keep forgetting to charge it so I've been using my phone sorry for the picture quality. I'm going to check on it in a bit for water change and treatment #3.

He ain't too happy looking this morning. But he's expelling some serious crap.

Changed about 7 gallons out. Thinking I may have some water quality issues. Hopefully he perks back up.

I have even changed out 100% of the water when my gig seriously started to expel.

I took all the equipment out and washed it even the egg crate. Hit him with the powerhead a bit and syphoned out the gunk. Then drained the tank until he was almost air bound.

Gonna see how he is in a few hours. This is the most he's expelled so far. If I have to change water out again I will.

I have been trying to upload my videos for the past two days. Upload error, but the files are good, you tube problem.

In it, it shows that I have made mine air bound, Really trying to get all the junk out. Mine is doing good lately.

Hope yours pulls out of all this. How big of pieces is it expelling?

Uhhh.. Well its hard putting a size on them. I guess I'd say the size of tic tac candies and smaller. Lot of white/brown stringy stuff too though.

Yeah the same was with mine.. It did a real small one yesterday but had done none the previous day.

Guess were both on the same track kinda. You get any deflations on expelling? Mines scrunched up pretty good still.

No, not really. I get a retching look. Like it is coughing up a hair ball, or like a person is really sick with the flu or food poisoning.

But no pancake looks or anything. Mouth looked good this am. After looking at the video from yesterday it looks like it did one of the last expelling. It had it's mouth so wide... WOW.. it was really big. It even looked lke it was using it tentacles to get rid of the last pieces from is mouth.

Mines not pancaked it's just shrunk up. Like its column is firm and pulled in tight on itself. Its not floppy.

Had to cut treatment short at 4 complete treatments. Couldn't be around to change water and top off the QT so the h-mag had to go back into the DT. My DT is self sustaining but the QT wasn't. But on a lighter note its looking PHENOMENAL.

Hasn't looked like this in a good while.

Its got pink tentacles with yellow tips and tiny purple dots on the end of the tip.. wait.. yeah head went into the gutter. Wish the cameras would show it right. LED's really give my cell phone trouble (horizontal lines) and my digital camera never grabs the color.
