Hey Guys,
About 5 months ago I bought a tiny Multi-color angel. It went into my tank and dissappeared into the rock work. It was gone for over 10 days. When the fish showed back up all the white was gone from the body and it's body was dark grey.
The fish has grown from .75" to 2.75" in the past months, it's out all the time eats all kinds of food and still has no white only dark body color.
Last month I bought a tiny bright red flame angel. It went into the rock work but showed up cruising the rock work the next day and eating off the rocks. The flame is constantly cruising the rock, and eats some added food, but now the little flame is turning dark.
For feeding, I have a very healthy tank with a big pod population. The tank has about 800 lbs of rock in the tank itself. There is an autofeeder which adds Salifert and NLS pellets 3x a day. In the evening I add Frozen Brine, Mysis, Cyclopeeze and Daphnia. I also add Reef Nutrition Mysis, ROE and Arctipods several night a week.
Several times a week I add a sheet of Nori, but neither of the dark angels go near it (lots of tangs in the way).
I have a highly populated tank, but nobody is bothering either angel. In addition to these two 'dark' angels I have a pair of Goldens, a Goldflake, a trio of Bellus and a Venustus.
The third bellus was added about 4 months ago as a sub 1" fish and its up to 2.5" now and has spectacular color.
Any thoughts as to what I am missing from my tank that these two fish are going dark ?
Scott Fellman of UniqueCorals dropped by and saw the Multi-color and got excited that it was an aberrant Multi-color, I tried to explain that it was normal when I bought it, but he thought it was one of the cooler fish he has seen.
