Another Water Change question

I tried searching, but didnt find what I was looking for. Please forgive me for another water change question. My water parameters have been good, at least I think they have been, here they are.

Sal 1.025
PH 8.15
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 5
Calcium 420
Alkalinity 9.6
Phosphate 0
Magnesium 1260

I dose for Cal, Alk, and Mag.

My last water change was 3 weeks ago. All my corals and fish seem to be doing very well and all look happy, so at what point do I do a water change?

IMO, since you are dosing I would just do a water change every month or so. This is mainly to replenish trace elements, iodone strontium boron are the more important ones.

depending on what all equipment/method you are using to keep nitrates and phos to 0, answer could be yes and no and how much bio load ur system has.
but i agree that atleast once a month 25% to keep up with the trace elements.

+1, once a month should be plenty if your measurable parameters are good and the livestock seems happy. Water changes also remove trace elements that build up over time, which water changes are the only method of removal. With monthly changes this is normally not an issue. Again, if the livestock is happy monthly should be just fine.

I've always been a fan of weekly changes in the 10% range. I look at tanks I want to replicate and follow their maintenance best I can.

There are a LOT of things in your water that you are not testing for. Regular water changes help keep those things in line.

That said, in bigger and more mature systems with the right equipment (like a big refugium) can get away with doing a lot less water changes. But you do so at the risk of the health in your tank.
