Anthias feeding habits

I have one dispar anthias and am having trouble getting it to eat except for mysis shrimp. I'm worried that if I get more anthias and I go on vacation for a week what would have to be done for them to eat. [My tank is only 15 months old & last fall left for 2 weeks but fed the fish with an authomated flake food feeder]. Jim

Have you tried NLS pellets? Our anthias eat them very well, altho our anthiases practically grab you by the lapels and say "Feed me, Seymour!"...

+1 I use NLS pellets in an automated feeder, though my dispar's would probably eat a cheeseburger if I dropped it in the tank :lolspin:

I use a combo of NLS pellets and Prime Reef flakes in an automatic feeder for my Dispars. Some of them wont eat the pellets, but will eat flakes.

I have NLS (New Life Spectrumax) marine fish formulaas well as their finicky fish formula but beileve it or not I haven't tried either. DUH!!
I'll try both. Thanks, Jim

Or you can train your anthias to eat off of a feeding stick...actually, in this case, there was no training involved, they're just gluttonous little bastages that thought "if they can do it, so can we".

Blotched Anthias Stick Feeding

My male pink square anthias is a pig and will eat just about anything, including NLS pellets, frozen mysis /clams / squid. The two females, on the other hand, will not eat pellets. They're luke warm about frozen mysis, but they go nuts for frozen clams. So, I feed a 50/50 mix of frozen mysis and clams.

When I go on vacation, I take an ice cube tray and fill one cube for each day I'll be gone with RO/DI water. Then I thaw out & rinse mysis, clams, squid, etc, stir it all together, and add the mix to the cubes. Then I add a scoop or two of cyclopeeze and a scoop of Coral Frenzy. Put it all in the freezer, and then my fishsitter only has to pop an ice cube a day into the tank. The fish eat it up as it thaws.

NLS, my dispar goes crazy for them, as well as mysis and cyclopseze.
I fill shot glasses of food(mixed foods in RO) for each day I'm gone for my fish sitters and put in fridge when I'm gone, and all other days they get fed every half hour/hour throughout the evening.
