I bought a 2000 LR Discovery II SD from a friend of mine for my wife in an attempt to get her out of payments on her Jeep Grand Cherokee Loredo, but after a few weeks, she says its just too big for her to get used to. I got a good deal on it becuase it could use a new head gasket (still runs reliably without smoking or anything so its not too bad, but the compression is a little low causing it to take 2 to 3 minutes to warm up and have expansion seal it). Looks great, like new leather and hey, Its a Land Rover! Head gasket should run about $800.00 (1200.00 at the land rover "stealership"

Need to get 5K for it local or 4K and a nice working hot tub delivered. A few cool frags could get me droped 100.00 or so LOL (book value is about 6.5k with the mileage. It has 130K all true highway). Or, you can bid on it and might be able to get it cheaper!. Either way, its WAY below book

Its on ebay now and i'm sure I'll get what i'm looking for, but figured I'd give a heads up to the local reefers I know and maybe get the hot tub ive been looking for.

I've always loved those trucks.

I saw one of the Range Rover Sports the other day in this cool burnt orange color. What a beautiful truck.

Someday......

Good luck on your sale.

That orange Range sport your talking about is a special edition with a supercharger. It has all the options including a console dring cooler!

Its a steal with a new MSRP of about 80K! (i'm kidding becuase 80K is nutz for a SUV in the income bracket im in now LOL )

figures it'd be the special, super charged, limited edition model. I was all excited when the new sports were coming out, figuring maybe I could finally afford one. Then I looked at what a payment is on a $60K truck. My god.....

Awesome color, though. I almost picked up a Discovery in 2004, but they wouldn't come down to my monthly price. So I went and bought a 4Runner. And a few months later, at the end of the year, they called and said they'd give it to me for my price. I said, would have been nice to get that call a few months earlier.

Those new Jeep Commanders are pretty neat. Seem to have a Land Rover-ish look.

Those commanders are cool looking, my wife Loves her Jeep.

I hear you about payments, theres a reason I drive a 13 year old GM pick-up. I've been payment free for years. Drives like a champ, cold air and if I do wreck it, I'm out less than I make in two months even if insurance doesnt cover it. LOL

It still looks new though at least!

There has to be someone out there looking to get a good deal on a LR and free up some hot tub space though!

I happen to work at a "dealership" in the service department. We major in honesty and customer service. If you have had a bad experience at one or a million dealerships, please comment on them by name, and don't generalize. Please. Every type of business has it's bad apples.

hmmm..... i think he's just refering to the common knowledge that car dealerships charge more for repair work. however, getting your work done there can help hold the value of a car.

It does cost more to have the most up to date equipment and factory parts and training.
I read "stealership" differently than charge more for repair work.
I welcome you to follow me to work tomorrow and check out the diesel truck that spent 93 days and a well known independant truck shop. The owner paid almost $2800 and then towed it to me. Our menu price on the original job is $600 less and you actually get it back running!!!

I was refering to the fact that its not uncommon for repairs to cost 40% more at a dealership than any other shop.

I'd follow you to work, but I'll be a bit busy. At work. Sorry if I offended you, I wasnt talking about you in particular.

Over the years Ive have problems with the mitsubishi on hillsbourough dealership, hondaland and Kuhn.

Sorry, Ive been to three and had problems at three. I take all of my cars regardless of make to my local mechanic (unless he isnt comfotable working on that certain make which hasnt happened yet).

OH and by the way, my uncle is one of Ferman Acuras head mechanics. I know dealership mechanics arent evil people, I just choose to save myself some money. If that bothers you so be it.

Wes

What bothers is the term "stealerships". That and only that bothers me. It shows a lack of consideration to all the honest hard working dealership employees out there.

I do appoligize for my wording, I wasnt trying to offend anyone.

I sell big dollar trees and palms and I get people in all the time who think that our prices are ridiculous, but hey, it is what it is.

Ive even had people go as far as calling me a theif even though I dont grow the material and dont work on commission. Its just a fact of life that some people dont see the behind the scenes to what is involved.

That said. I still love my local shop LOL

No hard feelings?
