Any new advances in Ich?
My powder blue is in trouble.
I haven't placed any new fish in the tank since Sept.
Adding rock to the tank to provide more hiding places in hope to relieve stresses ( when you have as many fish they all need their own hiding places)
She eating, so that's a plus, but not swimming in her usual way.

NEED SOME VALID IDEAS, I HAVENT HAD A SICKNESS IN MY TANK IN OVER TEN YEARS!!

Thank you in advance

Harry get that fish out of tank and put her in a separate QT... I would even fresh water bath to get what ever ich you can off. I would defiantly try low salinity or copper right away and not do the main display....
I loved that fish but this is reason why I have not gotten one... the new tank must of stress her out or the new fish you got had ich ( wow you got new fish.....LOL)

not true ..my Angels are far worse
Harry...normally I would say if it's eating let it be not to stress it out more because chasing it will flip it out, but yours got it pretty bad so if you don't have a QT set up already get one...use the water from your DT so all the parameters are the same and use Cupramine..copper is toxic and this brand is one of the safest...following the directions. I use a hangon filter with no filter and the tank water level is lower so it creates alot of airation. I also change about 3-5 gallons a day and just add more Cupramine to maintain the proper levels...test the copper level every day...I use a BB tank with a gallon milk container cut open for bigger fish like my Angels and PVC pipes for smaller fish to hide....a minium of two weeks or longer...still eating is a good sign...GL !
BTW ..my PBT is over 15 years old so they hardy if you meet their requirements ....

I prefer hypo salinity for Tangs, they have delicate skin and copper is hard on them.

I am new to reefing, but I was reading topics on Ich and they say Tank Transfer Method has been really successful that requires no medication dosing.

Trying to catch him is not an option. Too many hiding places and he's fast as heck....

Thanks

That's not good, Doc. There is no reef safe ICH treatment, and going by your picture, your PBT has it bad.
I know that you and your tank have gone through a lot lately, but if you don't deal with this right, it's never going to go away.

So, I have disconnected the main display tank from the rest of the system.

Took out any corals I had in there and transferred them to the other tanks in the system.

I'm dropping the salinity daily. Its now at 1.016. Bringing the rest of the system back up to 1.025

Added an air stone to the main tank. I will continue to drop the salinity until it gets to 1.009 and will maintain to for about a month.

The fish and my PBT continues to eat.

Hope this works.

I think you're on the right path, but do keep watch on your ammonia level. I don't know how effective your bacterial filtration will be. I'm thinking it will be at least weakened by the hypo-salinity.
You could be looking at many water changes, keep some salt on hand.

RIP "BABY" my Powder blue Tang
