It's hard to have a reasonable discussion because it's almost immeadiately political and like most politics in this country things polarize almost immeadiately. I mean you can discuss mundane aspects without getting into the politics, but anything "serious" is almost immeadiately political because it's fundamentally linked to the 2nd amendment.
I used to have many rifles; my family have always had shotguns. I never saw a use for a handgun or at least they were never interesting to me. I had a tendency to love to shoot small targets at long range. I sold my guns when my first daughter was born. I was just not willing to take that risk, but I do have a question. I never seemed to have an emotional connection to having the guns and it appears as many people do. To me they were just another machine that did a particular thing, no different than a pump or a heater. To be honest by the time I actually sold the guns they had been sitting unused for some time; I had gotten bored with them. What is the draw to these things to the point that all reasonable conversation about them to goes out the window?
I am not asking a political question so please don't go there. I am just trying to understand this from a different point view that doesn't involve a constitutional lawyer or conspiracy theories.
KeithHays- for me it's an escape, it's like reefkeeping when your trying to get that perfect aquascape or watching your fish swim thru your corals it's relaxing right? Sound weird because guns can be loud and hurt your shoulder or give you a blackeye but something about destroying something and having the power is a good feeling. And when you get into long range shooting it takes a lot of skill. Breathing, trigger squeeze, posture, sight position, wind accommodation, temperature all these things change your round as it passes thru the air. And for me.... I love that it creates a challenge. Keeps you always striving for that perfect shot. And the stories behind some weapons is just amazing how they've been thru combat to protect our freedoms like reefkeeping lol
kichimark. Which FAL build is that? I shot my PTR with only irons for awhile, but I had a 6x42 vortex laying around and so.....btw, just got a springfield trigger group in the mail. Gonna drop it in tonight and take it to oaktree tomorrow (I hope)
