Any snails that eat Brillo?

I've got some new algae growing, it's tough to pull out, green, rough texture, wiry, about an inch long. I do not want to fool around with my chemistry as everything in the tank seems happy. I've got macroalgae in the tank but this Brillo menace has out competed my beloved Bryopsis so who knows how far it will go. I need to hire an assassin. :uzi:
Has anyone kept trochus or strombus? I've heard very mixed reviews about the sea hare, so let's stick to snails please. Anyone have any luck using snails to get rid of turf algae? Even my urchin won't eat this junk.

If it's the turf algae I think you're talking about and not cladophora that was referred to as "turf algae" in another thread, I had some growing on live rock that I collected in Mexico. I wanted to keep it but all the turbos & my tang ate it completely before I had the chance to set up my kelp tank! Can I buy some from you or trade if you prefer? a pic would be helpful to confirm its the same stuff

if it looks like chaeto except sprouting from the rock then we have the same stuff and nothing touches it as far as I can tell.

Can you get pictures? Any algae just loves a good ol' toothbrush and raise in magnesium if all else fails.

I have never seen the words beloved and bryopsis next to each other in a sentence before. :hmm3:

Yes! It looked just like chaeto, brittle, but short strands all curving downward... and very well behaved. EVERY single herbivore in my tank ate it! I kinda got excited when some of it started coming back on the rock in a tight spot - but then my emeralds found it, too. I'm sure it can't be fragged... I would need a piece of the rock it is attached to.

I ended up getting a couple of frags form my LFS along with a cool looking form of Caulerpa. It reminds me of a light green holly Bush. These have not been put in the DT with all the herbivores .:-)
