Any tips to make a tang not shy around me?

Everytime I'm near my tank my whitetail bristletooth tang hides, is there anything I can do to help change this behavior or is it just something that will take time? He's been in my DT for 2 weeks but I just reaquascaped last weekend so that plays a factor.

Give it time, once the tang gets acclimated and starts recognizing you as the provider of food the tang will be front and center. All of my fish would follow me from one side of the tank to the other as I walked thru the room

Time + associating you with food + you staying out of the tank = fish out and about.

Some are always nervous. I have a foxface that is extremely shy. If I do anything in the tank it hides. If I sit or stand quietly it will be right out in front. Since it is venomous, I like that it hides when I'm in the tank.

Yeah, all my other fish follow me as well. He just needs time I guess like I thought thanks!

Thanks and I agree with staying out of the tank, just hard at this moment since I'm restocking all my corals from a crash a little bit ago. Last two nights I'm guilty of messing with the inside haha.

Agree with above. My white tail was the most shy fish in the tank but after a couple of months he is always out front and follows me around like the other fish. Some species and individuals just take longer than others.
