Anyone Else Have Clowns That Hand Feed?

After about 1 week in my tank I decided to try and encourage my clowns to eat from my hand and within two days I had them doing it.

Now anytime I stick my hand into my tank they are zipping all around my hand in and out trying to look for food. I think its great although my hippo has seen it and looks like he may try it too.:eek2:

Mine will hand feed as well. One thing I used to do to make sure they ate when they were small was feed them with a tube. They would wait by the tube, and I would squeeze it. As soon as a tiny piece of shrimp poked out they would swim to it and take a piece.

Mine are pretty aggressive feeders. The females of each pair (maroon and onyx) will poke their noses out of the water if I'm not quick enough with their meals! Then they'll grab the flake out of my hand.

After a week or so with my clowns, they started taking bites off of the thawed Silverside I was hand delivering to my BTA, or the thawed clam I was hand delivering to my Stars.

Now I love to watch them eat out of my hand. The interaction people are acustomed to with dogs and cats is not expected with a fish tank. This is about the closest you can get with salt water fish.

I'm working on the SIT and STAY comands now!:D

I hand feed these guys all the time, they just love me:)

i used to but stopped after switchign to formula 1 pellets because they are harder to hand feed.... they usually fall from between my fingers because they are so tiny in comparison... but i feed them mysis and CE from a turkey baster and they definitely know that thing... anytime it goes in there both clowns and the peppermint are on the end of it before i know what hit me... its pretty cool...

all my fish feed from my hands (except the scorpion, I never put my hand in that tank) including my flame angel and two ocellaris. The scorpion attacks the turkey baster when I try to feed him and basically sucks all the food out =P

my skunk cleaner shrimp attacks my hand too, I usually freak out cuz it feels so strange with all those little legs and claws going at my hands and cuticles =X

mine hand feed
and i dont think you are a bad person if you occasionally put your fingers in the tank,
if you feed food flake any contaminants on your fingers will get in the tank anyway assuming you have not washed your hands (which i always do).

better to have fish that trust your hand and dont bolt specially if you need to catch them for any reason.
my opinion

My gold skunk practically jumps in my hands when I'm working in the tank and it gently nips me hoping for food. Its been like that ever since I bought it. Made switching it from one tank to the other a breeze. ;]

My Tomato Clown & Coral Beauty Angel will take food from my hand.
However, the clown will NOT let me feed the Sebae Anemone. It takes everything I give the SA & throws it out!
