Anyone else order the new Maxspect Gyre?

The Gyre looks really interesting.. im wondering how it would work with a tank with a huge overflow in the middle. would it only gyre in half the tank or would it be able to make it to the other side and around the overflow?

I'm waiting for the smaller 130 to come out. 150 looks way too powerful for my 70gal.

Ordered it for my 70g. Figure i'm going to have to run it at 20% or so, but couldn't wait any longer. Going to attach it sideways on my overflow and make a whirlpool.

On the fence with this or Mp40, but leaning more with the maxpect. Vertical by the corner overflow would be best, plus it's cheaper.

Was going to order, but was then advised by a rep to wait for the smaller one for a 4' 75 gal tank

Mine should be here on Tue. I just hope it lasts long and isn't a pita to clean.

I was worried about this as well, but in terms of cleaning because it comes with an extra set of "paddles" one can be cleaned while the replacement set is put into use. I just hope the other parts don't need to be cleaned as much.

I also hope that an interface being developed so that we can use our Apex to control the Gyre.

you could probably place it closer to the front glass if you're worried about it. It would have to be a massive overflow to stop all of the flow from this thing though.

They recommend cleaning it once a month...
Thanks for posting.......I'm the lazy reefer and can't see myself cleaning every. In my tank the thing would be all clogged up with coralline.
That ceramic shaft looks fragile. I broke one on my skimmer pump cleaning once.

Once a month cleaning?!? I watched the video, and that's a lot of work to do. I'm hoping that's just their "recommendation" and that the normal 6 month schedule that most of us use would be satisfactory.

I would be really be interested to see how the 150 works on your 75g. I'm hesitant to pull the trigger for my 65g

This thing is legit. 1 gyre and I have flow through the whole 70g. Its not harsh flow either. The corals aren't getting blown around (at the lower speeds). I'm running in on alternating gyre mode 20% on forward, 50% on back. Going to have it switch between them every 2 hours for now.

For your 65 you will probably only run in on 20-30% in the forward mode. I like it that way. I would rather have the larger version running at a lower setting. Its also not as loud that way. It probably needs to break in but the forward mode is louder than reverse. At 20-30% its around mp10 noise level. Higher than that it gets into mp40 range. Cranked up its louder than an mp40. Again this is with it running for like 30 mins. So I'm gonna give it more time.

I'm happy with it and think its a real advancement for flow in our tanks.
