Anyone ever use a coil denitrator?

I was a little bored yesterday and built one. Anyone else ever mess around with these?

I figure if I'm having a rough intestinal day I can make the flow slow enough and I have an excuse for sulphur smell if the dog's not around.

Clarkii_Clownfish had one and used to swear by it.

If I'm not mistaken when the water coming out has a smell to it then you're running it through too fast but then again I can't say for sure.

No, it's the opposite. Slow stinks, but you have to have it slow until it colonizes, then you speed it up over time. You should actually never have that smell though when it's flowing right.

You need to visit Nook and Bogie some time .... no way you'll get that smell out of a coil denitrator! WOO!
