Anyone get their AI Prime yet?

Regarding setting by K, I seem to remember hearing that maybe the Android version has that feature, but if the IOS app does, I have yet to find it.

Ok...I went back and watched the video I saw it in and that does look like an android tablet being used. Really disappointed in the control of these lights so far.

no instructions but they weren't needed. just go to youtube and type in ai prime mounting bracket. they have a video that lays the entire installation out. I personally found that you do not tighten the ball up. just thread screw in till you feel tension. Its the two black screws that you tighten up. those are what holds the prime in place. I've noticed that once a week I need to tighten up the two black screws just a hair, but my prime holds wherever i want it and it doesn't "droop".

hopefully this helps.

As far as getting the specific lighting I emailed aquaillumination from their home page and they got back to me on the same day. here is what they said:

No problem at all, anytime. Yeah, 100% (even with the Prime) over a 14BC could be disastrous over the course of a few weeks...the intensities I provided previoulsy should work well. The only modification I would make would be to reduce the previous intensities to the following:
White 35
Deep Blue 60
Blue 75
Red 15
Green 25
UV 20
Violet 40
Should make a great fit for your tank! From there, you can increase any of the LEDs you wish by up to 5% (every couple weeks) until dialing in exactly where you want to be. If you need any additional assistance, let me know!

I chose to forgo the lunar cycle, and instead my tank gets a few hours of moonlight every night, and about 6 hours of total dark.

I had heard in an unboxing video that if the power goes out, even temporarily (i.e. power dropout, brownout, etc.) that you would have to redo the settings, i.e. that it doesn't have any memory. Has anyone experienced this or is this misinformation? I would def be interested in trying one out, but I'm not sure I want to deal with this if it is an issue.

That information is incorrect. I have turned power off to mine multiple times without problem. When it comes back on, it takes maybe 15 seconds to "reboot" and it's right back into the normal program mode it was in before the power interruption.

Is anyone else getting buzzing on the white/cyan channels? This is my second prime and both have this issue. It goes away when the these channels are at 100%. It's annoying but not terribly loud.

I have not had that problem on my two. If I put my ear right against the light I can hear a very faint whine from the fan but that's it. It is not noticeable at all under normal circumstances.

I'm not getting that but I'm noticing that the parent prime is much brighter than the child prime. Anyone else experiencing this?

Have you tried to access your prime when not in range of your home wifi? I cannot (IOS user) connect to mine when I'm not at home.

I can't connect via the iPhone app but I can from my computer at work. I'm not enjoying this light too much....might be headed to the for sale forum soon. The programming is too quirky. I might go back to kessils or upgrade to the hydra 26 and use my apex for controlling the lights.

I found that my Prime worked perfectly strait out of the box (and bag for the mount, which had zero issues and needed no modifications). I was instantly able to connect to it via my android phone using the app. I do also have WiFi at my home that I use. My "phone" was causing the only problem, which is that it kept logging off the app for the prime while I was testing all the light settings...and instead trying to reconnect to my standard home WiFi. I maybe could have fixed this by turning off my WiFi but I never bothered to try that because it really wasn't worth the energy. Yes, it does work just fine via the app...and that was proven to me...even if it did keep getting kicked off. Instead I found it so much easier to connect the Prime to my home WiFi and then fine tune it through the computer (yes any computer...I can freak my g/f out from work) and only use the app if I'm lazy. But now that it's been set to the initial acclimation levels, I can easily just leave it and sit back to enjoy the ramping up and down of the dawn dusk effects. I also found it easier to set and modify the moonlight effects. That's one more thing I love about the light is that you don't have to use all the LEDs to get the moonlight...you can adjust any color or combinations of colors to do it...so I chose I desirable blue setting. So far I haven't encountered any problems with my Prime. the test corals I have it the tank seem to be enjoying the light as well as my two clowns (this is a tank dedicated to just the clowns since they are too aggressive to be with the rest of the fish). Also of note the tank I run it on is a 24"x18"x20" tank. So it's a two foot tank and I have no problem with coverage (granted I wouldn't put anything in the 2" top corners anyways).

Actually I found that if the power outage is a bit longer (i.e. longer than 2 min) it loses the date/time settings and resets things to Jan 2000 - 12am - which messes where you are at in the lighting cycle. Not a huge deal but annoying.

Has anyone connected their prime to their home LAN. I have tried and tried and figure it may be firewall issue - but there is no documentation to assist as to how you may get this to work.

The design problem with the mount lies in the silver metal "ball" screw that connects to the light itself. the round head allows light to swivel but it is WAY too smooth to get any friction with the bracket that it fits into. I just took the screw and roughed it up a bit on the sidewalk. This little bit of scuffing gave the ball joint enough friction to hold the light easily in place. i didnt have to tighten the bracket plate much at all to give it enough grip.

Prior to trying this, i over tightened the plate several times trying to the the light to hold still and blew through several of the brushing spacers. Scuff up the heads of the silver crew's first.

Have two primes over a 38G bowfront mixed. After two weeks everything inside seems to love it. Got a birdsnest SPS over the weekend and it seems to be doing fine. Use 65% max on lights during day.

anyone notice that the Android app now has the ability to run a demo. When I first got mine this was not an option. I haven't checked the Computer yet to see if it'll have one there because at the time I found it the website on my computer (the normal way I control my Prime) was down and not accessible. Maybe not it too has the feature to run a demo of the days light cycle. I guess my point is that I'm glad they are hearing the complaints from customers and fixing the issues to make us happier.

The June 2015 update for IOS has added a coral acclimation schedule feature. Nice!

BTW, I've added a second Prime to the family, it's over my new 56g tank. The 'plan' was to move the contents of my 29g into the new tank and use both primes over it, but so far, having two tanks in the living room isn't bothering me too bad... The ball mount on the new one is nice and tight, no slippage.
