anyone getting together to make fish food anytime soon ??

we need to figure out what night will work for everyone and where to gather up all the stuff in TJ list a few replys up , and we need to see if ole Pres Kevin wants in ,, as he is the one with the blender that has been blasted with this stuff already ,, i have a feeling if i use the one the wife make her drinks in i would be sleeping in the barn for a few ,, "how's that fishberry daiquiri tastin honey"

has this ever been done at a meeting seems like there's enough people interested in it..maybe a couple of people could pick up the ingriedients and and we could all split the cost..just a thought..

Doesn't seem like the Pres. wants to host another fish food night. If anyone else would like to host this event, everyone can chip in on the food. I don't mind hosting myself, but unless you guys want to drive to Akron, I think I have enough room at my place to have everyone here. Someone would have to buy all the ingredients and bring it, I can supply the mixing equipment and throw down some hot dogs and such.

I have no problem doing it here again but my house is about an hour from most of you. I never even opened this thread assuming a couple people would just do it themselves. With it being this much interest it could easily be a meeting topic but we have the next two months already planned with speakers and then it is break time.

We used to have a June meeting when the zoo had the Touch exhibit with sharks and rays. George mentioned the attraction would not be set up again this year and he wasn't sure what would take its place. Maybe we could get the education building for the June meeting and make a batch but it sounds like a lot of people are wanting it sooner.

I will check into it a bit if you guys want to try to set up a June get together or if someone wants to do it sooner just let me know where and when to have the processor there. My tanks have nothing to look at but hair algae anyway ;)

I got all the sizes of golden pearls, Naturose and spirulina at KensFish.com and the squid, octopus etc... was from a WalMart fresh seafood mix. If you could find all the ingredients raw at an asian market it would be more nutrition for your fish.

If I did it over again I would want some bigger chunks for the bigger fish. It seemed to all get chopped a bit too much. Maybe it would be better to pulse some of the bigger pieces into bite sized chunks and pour them into a holding dish to add back to the mix after it is done.

I can bring the fishfood processor. Last time we hosted it I bought a bunch of hot dogs and grilled them up (well my wife ended up taking on that duty) and we had a cooler full of pop and some chips so everyone could have some dinner. It was a great time!

We should get a poll of people here...

Who can wait for an official meeting in June?

Who would rather do it now somewhere close to Cleveland?

Who wants it sooner and doesn't mind driving an hour down here to Amish country to use the Bass-O-Matic this month?

I think it ended up being $8 per 6oz flat. Compared to Rod's food which is $20. I spent something like $245 and then other guys added their stuff too. It took a week or so to get the ingredients so we will have to decide something and then go from there... Let's see what other people have to say.

I think it would be a neat twist on an informal summer meeting/cookout/get together since C-Sea usually takes a break over that period.

One thing to take into consideration, is that once the mixing ensues, it's really only 1 or 2 people involved, while the others stand and wait. Once the first serving is done, bagging ensues... so there is a bit more to be done after the initial batch.

So if it was done at a meeting perhaps it could be split out into a few smaller groups, and those groups could be arranged by the type of tanks each person had (or the type of food they would like). For instance, as Kevin said... he would like some larger chunks for his fish. While I would like to puree my food into mush for my SPS and other corals.

I'm hoping to make up a "Pappone Mix" soon. However, my tank needs to rebound from a lighting debacle, so my timeline is 1 or 2 months out before I start it... so a June date would work great for me.

i'm in. kevins or meeting makes no difference to me. we could use my place but im further away.

I am down to the last piece of food, so would have to make some on my own anyways. So to me now or later makes no difference. I am down either way.

We still have a case of dogs left from the swap, would just have to pick up fresh buns......We could also rent a pavillion in the Metroparks, they have enough electricity for a few blenders, and it makes the smell go away.

I am in. It could be soon or in a couple months. It makes no real diff. to me. Let me know what to bring and when and where to bring it. I can chip in to bring food items for humans or fish.
