Anyone have live rotifers

My Picasso clownfish laid eggs and they'll hatch any day now. I'm not prepared but decided last minute I'll give it a shot at raising fry. Anyone have live rotifers? Any advice is also welcomed.

I can restart my culture and have a good batch by the end of the week if you haven't found any by then.

I don't have my culture running or I'd give you some.

Your best bet is to let the pair get used to laying. They'll get better as time progresses and you'll have time to prepare. General rule of thumb is to let two or more clutches go before trying to raise the fry.

That said, if you're just doing it for the challenge, Reed can get you rotifers and RGComplete overnight (for most of the Bay Area, even using ground delivery) since they're in San Jose. After you place your online order, just call to confirm that they can change shipping to ground (you'll also save money).

You'll also want to stock up on TDO to feed the babies:

Thanks for the help. This is their 2 time laying eggs so I figured I’d try to keep them a live this time but may I’ll prepare better for next time. I was looking at reef nutrition but wasn’t sure what to get.

Here's what you'll need:

1. Rotifer starter kit: https://reefnutrition.com/product_rotifer_starter_kit.php

2. Zooplankton/rotifer harvest sieve: https://reefnutrition.com/product_zooplankton_harvest_sieve.php

3. 5 gallon bucket with lid

4. air pump with air wand

5. TDO Chroma Boost

6. 10 gallon tank with the sides blacked out

7. appropriately sized heater with electrical tape covering the indicator light

8. larger grow out tank (something like a 20L or whatever you have available)

You can purchase this kit, which makes cleaning a bit easier (but this is not required). There are two options, one with a bucket and one without:

A couple of notes:

1. RGComplete is a good beginner food for rotifers because it contains buffers and Cloram-X (can be purchased separately) which helps to control ammonia.

2. Once you get more comfortable with the process, and feel like you want to increase production and customize the food that you feed the rotifers, Reed offers may different options. Most of us choose a combination of RotiGrow One Step and RotiGreen Omega.

Here's a really good write up on what you'll need to do:
