anyone heard anything about this company?

This is glasscages. No need to have it delivered, they will be here on 8/13 for a reptile show and you can pick your tank up from them there and save on delivery charges. They'll still charge you a fee for hauling it, but not nearly as much as having it delivered. Go to glasscages.com which shows a list of their shows. They are in STL like 3 times before the end of the year.

I have a 120g RR from glasscages. I can't tell you too much because I haven't filled it with water yet.. however the construction appears to be excellent. Make sure to get your order in soon if you want to pick up at the 8/13 show, especially if you want it drilled and/or with overflows.

btw, delivery charge is only $50 -- well worth it. Their stands are very nice as well, and I think they'll only charge you the one delivery fee if you get both.

I may have found another tank for pick up around here (minneapolis) that I can get on the way to stl , but if something falls through with that I am glad you guys gave positive feedback

their tanks are prices quite well, the tank I want is 70 bucks for acrylic, can't go wrong there

Not so sure on the "positive feedback". Would encourage you to do a search on glasscages in the vendor feedback forum as there have been many threads and experiences posted regarding them.

I did a subject search as suggested. There were a few very long threads about GC, including two instances in particular. I saw a lot of proverbial handwringing about "not buying from those jokers" or "everybody e-mail this thread to them".

From an objective standpoint, most who actually HAVE tanks from GC are satisfied, it seems. When someone in one of the long threads suggested that only people who actually purchased from GC (as opposed to an uncle's friend or a brother-in-laws cousin), the thread got very quiet.

Then there were some threads such as this one

Overall I'm very happy with my tank. I wouldn't try to talk anyone into buying from a particular vendor; just trying to point out that there are many satisfied customers -- when you see the GC rig in front of a show, they have hundreds of tanks on it; my guess is that the satisfaction rate is comparable to other manufacturers.

thanks a lot backprop....I ended up picking up an entirely different tank...I picked up a 24x18x18 acrylic "cube" (not technically a cube I guess, but similar) that I found close to here (ND)

when I eventually set up another tank I will probably consider gc

EDIT
speaking of the reptile show

where would this be located?

I have a snake and would be very interested in going to a herp show in STL

I have a custom acrylic tank from glasscages and am very pleased with it. Looks great, and I have had ZERO issues with the tank.

The reptile shows are at Machinists' Hall which is up on St Chas Rock Rd right off 270. (EDIT!!) They say on the site they're moving southwest to the I-44/Lindbergh area.

www.saurian.net

is the site.

You might PM scbadiver. He had a 240 glass tank built with a many specific details. He also had 135 acrylic sump built by them.

Better double check location.... My son is big in the STL Herp Socity

" The St. Louis Reptile Show is now in its tenth year, and this year the show will be moving to the Holiday Inn Southwest, located just south of the intersection of I-44 and South Lindbergh, in Southwest St. Louis County. The show will be held in their ballroom. We are also changing the hours of admission, and in the future the shows will start at 10 am, instead of 9 am."

The Reptile Shows were previously at the Machinists' Hall.
