There would be a nice little sum of cash involved for about 3 hrs work saturday morning. I am 1 hr 18 mins. away from GC's acording to mapquest. It is very heavy and I don't think a small trucks suspension would hold it very well. I am just guessing though.... She said it would be very heavy, it has the thicker glass. LMK Thanks!

Sounds like your going to need more than a truck, perhaps I could bring a truck load of Clarksville Titans to unload it for you.lol Wish you lived closer.........

Remember, 6 of us for Mel's tank... :) Luckily its a straight shot from the garage to where the tanks going...

clean out your box titansfan :) jobs yours if you want it. Same money as we talked about last week. they load it for you, 1.5 hrs one way. :)

I hope you realize how heavy your tank is. Did you say you were getting a 280gal in another thread? My 120 gc tank was very heavy (300#?). Me and another big dude barely got it up the stairs in my house because it was soo awkward. I would have never guessed it either.

Any guess on how heavy it is? Maybe 600-800#?

I've lifted a 240 from glass cages several times. They are very heavy, but I could hold (once it was lifted) one side of the tank by myself. It took 4 young men with strong backs to move it about 25 yards, up stairs, and through a door. For a 280, you are probably looking at needing 6 people that really know how to lift.

Yea, I was thinking 6 to be sure and not drop it or bind it carrying it. Good thing is it only has to go about 30 ft and 1 door opening. I am so excited!

I moved mine with 4 but it’s an acrylic tank and it weighs about 450 pounds. It was more awkward then heavy. I got a furniture mover it has 4 wheels and two rubber pads on it and once we got it in the house you can move it with one person.

I had to get the thicker glass since it was 31 tall and I could only imagine how heavy it will be. Made a home depo run today for some lumber to beef up the stand a little in the corners and get started on my plumbing creation under the tank. it will take me a month to peice it all together.

Angela:

Not sure where you live etc, but glass cages is coming to the frag swap if you live on the chattanooga side of nashville maybe you can just pick it up at the swap.

Just a thought. I know they said they were bringing a huge truck and possibly going to make a few deliveries in the area.

well its in, and i don't see how 4 could have gotten it safely. there was a lot of grunting and groaning! the extra 6" made it enormus. i definetly need a good set of tongs to reach the bottom. i need to start a thread with the progress and some pics. thanks a million to chris, titansfan for going to get it!

Well, Let's see this monster. A tank and stand shot will do for a start with you and your thong (my bad I meant tongs)
