I've been fighting the urge to get a smartphone or pay any extra fees for non phone functions. My phone completely crapped out last night. I went to verizon with the intention of seeking a cheap repair. Then my wife starts in about me getting a crackberry. 1hr and almost $300 later and I got a droid. Pretty sweet. I'm surfin RC on the fly now.

which droid did you go with? And let me know you're thoughts once you play around with it...my plan has been up for renewal for a bit now but can never make up my mind. Love the droid by motorola but it's bulky. Friend of mine has the droid eris and loves it...and my brother told me they just came out with a new droid called the Droid Incredible which looks pretty sweet.

I had one for a week. Just couldn't get used to the touch screen. My hands are wet most of the day and its just too fragile for me. The features and apps are awesome. I found that blackberry phones are much more durable.

Ive had my Droid since they came out. Absolutely love it. My friend had the HTC Droid and he hated it. Mine is the full Droid with slide out keyboard.

Cully wait and see some of the cool free Appz you can get from the marketplace. If anyone is on the fence about one I say go for it. You won't regret it....

Don't have a smartphone? Where have you been!!!! lol.

Awesome Mark. I love pretty much all smartphones actually. I'm updating to new iPhone that is coming out soon. Everyone else has an iPhone and I am last to update(darn contract agreements)

Anyone know if iphone is coming out for verizon? I have been trying to find concrete info on this but its all up in the air.

I have a friend who works for Verizon and he says it all a rumour. But maybe there not telling the employees either so take it for what its worth. Rock the droid my friend. You can even customize the droid to look and act like a Iphone.

I got the Moto droid. Its great.

i had a phone with touch screen before and hated it, so i was skeptical. but the moto also has a keypad so i would have something to cling to while out of my comfort zone. its touch screen is WAY better than anyother one i farted around with. crackberrys are more for business folks with mettings and shedules etc... the droid kicks butt for browsing. so i was comfortable enough to give it a try. should come in handy when sitting in a treestand this fall. only thing that remains to be seen is battery life. with my wifes facebook addiction it'll really be put thru its paces.

my verizon "new every two" is coming up in the next month...i've seen the droid, and the apps...and i'm hooked....just waiting for the sweet deal...

I love my Droid I am still finding cool things on it all the time. No more laptop for me this does it all
Wow still can't believe I have a toy this great of a caveman can use it I can ahhaha

Ive got the Devour... I love it. Texting on a touchscreen can be extremely diff. But with the keyboard now, Its much MUCH better. I honestly couldnt be happier!!!

Are there as many apps for the Droid as there are for the iPhone? I want a phone that will allow me to do away with my PDA, so need applications for bank accounts, grocery lists, appointments, addresses, games, etc. AT&T contract expires in November and I'm leaning toward the iPhone. Are the Droids less expensive?

Mark..
Yup have one . Had it since the day it was released. Man it is about the best thing I have ever had.
Apps are awesome. tools are great. Don't get the Eris get the Motorola droid. The newest software update makes it even better.
And by the way.. When you gonna get your A$$ up here to The ROCH to see me. been to long my old friend

-Stephen

Biggest diff is the motorola has a slide out key pad. The thing is pretty complex. The salesman gave me a list of most common free apps. Pretty cool. Now if I could just figure out how to get my iTunes onto the damn thing.....

Steve-0, I'm on it pal. The little one really is a game changer. Got the day off today, but I'm grounded with "the Bean" all day. Somehow gotta clean the house for an Open House tomorrow. Can't do it with the kid in the Baby Bjorn either...unless I want her to asphixiate on widex and pledge  I'm kind of attached to her, like to keep her around a little longer....until she wants her own Droid
