Anyone seen these tanks?

To me, they look REEAALLL NIIICE.

After reading about them, it appears that when Oceanic decided to move plants (prolly around the time when they merged with AGA, and now Aqueon) ALL of their staff left, and started this company.

To me it explains a lot. Most of the Oceanic and AGA tanks I see nowadays have misaligned pannels, bubbles in the seams, etc. Not high quality for the price you pay. It shows just how important good, skilled workers are.

Anyways, thought I'd share, as I haven't heard much about this company locally.

I have a call in for a custom 215- 72.5"x24"x29" w/ center overflow.

I am very interested to see what they come back with.

i haven't seen these but it will be interesting now that AGA will have some competition. It says that CA is going to be an authorized dealer and they are the closest one to us.
 
I spoke with someone over at DSA today, and he said that there was/is a change of ownership over at CA, and while they don't want to get into the politics of that, he has a guy named Shane locally who is going to contact me tomorrow.

I am very interested to see what they can do... and of course, how much they charge to do it :)
 
Their tanks all appear to be a bit tall for my taste, though I'm sure the build quality more than makes up for that little fact.
 
Yeah, some of their tanks are a bit taller, but others like the 90 and 215 seem to be inline with most standard sizes out there.

I'd really like to see one in person though :(

Good you mention that.

When I spoke with the rep, he advised that if I want the center overflow, go with 3/4 glass, that way they can build it w/out the center brace.

I'm looking for a good mix of quality and price though. If they come back with some ridiculous number, I might as well get a lee mar. But if the price is only a few hundred more than AGA/Oceanic, I'm all over it.

Yeah, I thought that was killer too!!! Too bad I'm trying to match the tank with a stand I already have :(
 
I was reading some stuff on their site and ou're right. Most of them on there dont have a center brace because they are 3/4" thick. The tall ones wouldn't be bad for people with MH I would believe. getting to the bottom of the tank might be an issue though. Watever the case may be, let us know what tank you decide to go with and make sure you post some pics of it on here! BTW, you could always get another stand . . . ;)

Agreed.

About the stand, I have this one built to 40" tall (exactly where I like it), thats why I am somewhat hesitant as I don't want to go through building another to my specs. But don't get me wrong :) I like that 185, and think it would also be nice to start over with a new pallet.

Just for consideration...

I was looking at a 48x30x30. The folks that John uses wouldn't touch it without a 15" center brace. 10" if it also had a 4" eurobracing. John offered to call other people, but cautioned that if these guys wouldn't do it, it might not be that great of an idea. I don't know how thick the glass was, but I know John was also talking about getting a deeper tank for the shop and ran into the same issues.
 
Valid points! I'll talk to them tomorrow about their warranty/backing on their neo series.

It seems like Elos has no worries with the larger tanks though. Heck, those are even rimless.

But the Elos tanks are in a league of their own!

For sure!! They are sooooo far from what I can afford!! I wish though....

I personally love tall reef tanks. I know people hate that they can't reach the bottom but if you don't mind or have long arms the tall tanks are much better for viewing purposes. They also do just fine with lighting if you go with 400 watters. I switched from a 29 inch tall tank to a 24 inch tall and it just isn't the same. Height is great if you use it wisely :) Good Luck Jim!!
 
Yeah, for sure. He was actually the first guy I got an estimate from!

Keith seems like a really nice guy, and honestly, I want nothing more than to have the tank made right here in town. But his price was just too high unfortunately.

His work and craftsmanship is great. I have no doubt in his ability to craft a fine tank. I just can't afford it.

Hey Jim. The company that John uses is Visio so it is a pretty well known company.
