anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

I'd like to thank Macboat for all the hard work

I've been running it since Friday at 75% on W1 and it is dead quiet, at 100% it sounds like a cell phone vibration and was driving my kids nuts. Else mode is nice but it has the same problem when it runs at full speed. I may try putting it on the back wall of the tank and see how it works.

Give it some time. It does quiet down.

As far as the wp40 goes, do you guys think 1 would be enough for a 110 gal tall (48x18x30). I've seen the amount of water movement in the shallower tanks. Just wondering if the increased depth of my tank would be a factor to consider.
I have the same tank. Yes 1 is enough but I added a wp25 to the opposite side for more random flow.

Same for mine. I have both wp25s on else mode. The one running at 100% is fairly noisy. The other is not.

FS is now selling the new 1F controller as an upgrade for $13 each plus shipping. The new controller works with both WP40 and WP25. It added 2 more H modes and 3 speeds for W1 mode. I ordered 2 controllers the total with shipping came out to be less than $34. I think it is a good value as backup controller.

My WP40 has been running in my tank for over a month now. I am running it stock 100%. I thought that it would quiet down after a few weeks of running and I have to say that mine is just as loud as the day I bought it. I have taken it apart and made sure that the shaft was in the correct postion and still the same results. When I run in all modes except low I can hear it.

This is not a great big problem for me since my tank is in the living room in the basement so we are not around it all the time. Second the sound of the water entering the overflow mask the sound as well. I will try the new controller from FS to see if that works out. Well maybe I can't order one from FS so I am open for offers from some one willing to sell me one. I really like the flow I am seeing in W1 mode but the under tow is too much so I have to leave it in else or low.

As far as I am concerned this product is what I expected and I would buy another if I needed one. Just hoping I won't have to use my spare I purchased.

Perhaps you can run your spare and see if its any quieter. If so, then just leave the noisier one as the spare.

Have you open it up and clean out the two ends of the impeller?

The first month mine was pretty loud too, until I decided to take it out and cleaned it. The noise now is significantly quieter. I have to get really cost to my tank to hear it.

I just got a new anemone and am running two wp40's and want to anemone proof them as best I can. Does anyone know if the Ecotech Marine VorTech Foam Cover for MP40 will fit on our wp40's?

Or would I be better served with a DIY project like this:

I would imagine the plastic mesh would be the better long term solution as it won't need to be cleaned/maintained like the foam...

Thanks

Theyre cheap so I just threw away the pieces every week or so. Just whenever they were dirty. After a month or so of my nem staying put I removed them.

Longevity?

You don't need them to last too long, the PH should be anemone safe for the introduction period. After that it should not move too much, how deep is your tank? My pH are usually up high far from rock and sand.

30" tall I believe and ya I have the ph up high

Does anyone have a layout of pro's and con's for the 40 vs the 25 and vice versa. From what I've read the big one is obviously the big one eye sore vs the smaller 25. But is there more intigrated into the 25 as far as functionality goes due to its second generation status and such a closeness in price. Obviously I want more power but it seems the smaller 25 is becoming the better way to go.?. I have a 90g with a good 6 PH in it right now mixed between evolutions and sicce and still have a few dead spots despite running an open rock scape. I would be happy to trade these up for a single pump that would work. Just torn between the 40&25. Any info to help make the decision on which to go with greatly appreciated. Thanks

No there is no new functionality unless you consider the speed control on the W1 setting a significant change, but I'm sure that the new WP-40's will have the new controller too.

I belive they both use the same controller now, I have the WP40 with the speed control for the W1 setting. These are a good size but better than the 2 Koralias that it's replacing

Yeah it depends where you get it from.
Fish-Street goes through so many that they have the new controllers, but the guy on E-bay who bought 100 of them when they first came out and still has 50 is going to have the old controller and won't get the new controller for you.
