anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

Has anyone done maintenance to their pumps or just simply a check on the propeller magnets and see how they are doing?

I take mine apart once in a while to clean it.
I had a Condy Anemone crawl through it 2 weeks ago so I had to clean it good after that.

Does anyone have a pump that stops for a few seconds when it reaches the slowest speed? One of mine does that, but fish street is sending a replacement for ten bucks to cover shipping. Really good customer service from fish street.

I've seen them stop and not start again, until you unplug it, if the speed it set to low on a dimmer or Reef Angel Controller.

I can say I haven'y heard of it happening on a stock controller.

How long is it off for when it shuts off?

There are some modes (like the wave modes) where the pumps do stop for a brief second every couple of seconds or so.

If I remember correctly, I think W1 is equal to 7 seconds on 3 seconds off.

It's off for about five seconds. But sometimes it doesn't do it at all and sometimes it stays off for a few seconds longer. It also happens on all modes any time it drops to its slowest speed.

So I've been jumping around this thread. Has anyone found a way to control the flow as of yet? Also how good are the magnets?my tank is made of 3/4" glass and I'm wondering if the pump will hold.

The magnets are pretty strong. I have seen a couple of instances of people using these pumps on 3/4" tanks without problem. I think I even saw one of it being used on 1" glass, but I'm not sure that may have just been a question asking if it would work.

I'm not sure what you mean by controlling the flow.
You can control the frequency of the wave by the knob on the controller.
You can control the speed of the pump with an LED dimmer or PWN dimmer reducing the power going into the controller or you can control the speed of the pump by using an Apex or Reef Angel to reduce the power going to the pump.

The only way to control or adjust the flow would be to modify the housing in some way and no one has really experimented with that except Ron Reefman on the WP-25 thread, but I don't know what the outcome of mods were.

The problem I see with your solution is the life expectancy of your battery. If you use a Li-ion battery that should be fine, but acid lead batteries were not designed for repeated discharge cycles. In a period of months you will need to replace the battery

I'm using a "deep cycle" sealed lead acid battery. According to many things I've read, a deep cycle battery is designed to be able to discharge many times over it's lifetime (best to not discharge below 50% though):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_cycle_battery

And, I got a 22 Amp-Hour deep cycle sealed lead acid battery for ~$55 online (compared to ~$165 or so for the 18 Amp-Hour battery from vortech at the same physical dimensions). So, this will not dischange below 50% for the 10-12 hour night mode.

And, I have this working now using the Tunze safety connector and a universal power supply that had several different. If the battery early (3-5 years), I'll let you know.

I was referring to the speed of the pump. So I would need an led dimmer or PWN dimmer. Not sure what a PWN dimmer is but aside from that you gave me what I needed to know.
Thanks

Don't the new pumps come with a simple 3 speed control from Fishstreet as well as the wave duration control knob on the latest version?
RJ Allen

Yes. the new pump have a 3 speed control that works on the W1 mode only.
You can not slow down the speed of the pump on Else mode or any of the other modes.

Considering the WP40's have been sold for a while now, is it safe to buy from an online co. in Canada? would I get their latest versions of the pump & controller? I'd figure the shipping would be much cheaper than using Fishstreet.
