anyone using a nano reefpack 200 yet?

Their is nothing new. I think you misunderstood. In the change from the older 3110/2 which the 9002 replaces the difference is a bigger pump and black housing. The only thing that will change in the next batch is the pump will not be installed so as to minimize damage in transport. The 9002's that are currently out their are identical to what will come in on the next batch, only hopefully they won't be broken.

When you get a nano reefpack, I realize this is the nano filter and a nano doc together. Can you separate the two of them and use them like the individual items that are sold, or do they have to stay attached to each other?

You can seperate them (I did) but you have to get the bracket hardware to do so. I'm planning on buying a cleaning magnet and supergluing the bracket to that. And then I can screw in the bracket to the back side of the 9002.

THe included magnet with the RP200 is nice, though, if you're going to use two together. Just watch those fingers. Thankfully mine were out of the way when I placed them near each other.

Yes, they can be seperated. Initially I thought they were glued so you may read earlier threads where I stated they would not be seperable. The Reefpack 500 is glued and initial discussions were to glue the two halves. The problem you will have if you seperate them is the need to buy a pair of holers as the two together share a magnet holder and it would look really awkard to have the magnet holder for just one half of it since it would be not centered and the holder is bigger than the filter or skimmer.

Will this fit onto a 7g minibow - I want to add a skimmer that does not add micro-bubbles back into the tank like the Prism and the Remora does or did.

Hello All,

I'm from the Uk and have had this unit for about 6weeks on my 25g Cube reef. The operation is very good and well recommended for those with small amount of space for equipment. The only problem I am having with mine, is that the skimmer is releasing mirco bubbles back into the tank - which with the powerheads is sending mirco bubbles everywhere. I have spoken to the distributor here in teh UK and they advise taking the skimmer housing apart and check that all is connected correctly. Roger - is this a common problem, do you have any other suggestions. My unit came pre-assembled with the magnet holder - which I was little surprised to see but happy as I didnt have to do anything but plug-in. However, from reading this thread it seems mine is from 1st batch that come pre-assembled and possibly something has come loose with the skimmer in transit. Overall the unit is very quiet and is skimming very effieciently - certainly much quieter and less obtrusive that the previous deltec mc500 I had. Any suggestions Roger?

Hop eto post my tank sometime soon but I dont think it'll be as good as those you guys have - you have so much more selection of corals than we do here in the UK.

Cheers
Roshan

Hi Roshan, do you see little bubbles escaping from the buttom of the unit, in the back (next to the glass)? I have this happen too, and didn't know if it was normal or not. I can see a pretty constant flow of bubbles come out in one corner where the bottom will not snap on completely.

On another note, I've very glad you are happy with the performance. I was also considering the MCE600 (well, not really because of the cost), but it sounds like I ended up choosing the quieter skimmer anyway, which is great.

Aaron

P.S. Welcome to Reef Central

Hi Aaron,

Thanks for your welcome.

I am getting exactly what you have noted - little bubbles escaping from the bottom of the unit where the cap is. These comes out in a constant manner and thus get sent around the tank with the powerheads etc.

I'm going to have a look at it this w'end and see if there is something that can be done. The distributor informed me that the one they have in a display tank does not do this? I am little baffled but will use their guidance to ensure all is secure etc. Hopefully Roger will read this thread and provide advice/suggestions.

Glad I went for the unit as its compact, very quiet, and efficient. I've had a tunze unit before and they are very quiet compared to others - my last unit was a sump based 230 unit - very efficient but unfortuantely could not use it on the new system.

Well, glad to know its not only me. I have taken the bottom plate off several times and tried to adjust everything so that it fits securely, but there's always 1 corner that doesn't fit well, as this is where all of the bubbles are coming from.

Roger, what do you think about some aquarium silicone to fix? Good idea or not?

Aaron

I am not having the microbubble problem. I think the lid may not be on correctly. The lid only fits one way as their is a notch for the cable. The pump can be difficult to get fully seated inside, you need to gently twist it back and forth as you push, it should be flush with the bottom of the body and not bulging out further, their is about 2 mm further it needs to go in beyond what it easily slides in.

I would not use silicon because it shouldn't be necessary and will look ugly.

I have been playing around with this all morning as I spoke to Axel and he gave me some suggestions. Roshan, everybody that has one now, has one from the first batch. The fundemental problem is two fold. The L from the airline has to be inserted to the perfect depth. Once this is achieved the problem is that the hole that the screw covers to restrict the air flow is too far back and the screw does not cover it properly. Basically, when you have the L inserted correctly you will likely collect a cup of water. If you use a longer screw you can get the necessary range of adjustment to fix this. I just faxed a letter of my findings and some illustrations of the corrections necessary and I was told the parts will be corrected and replacements sent out ASAP. Roshan, I am interested in any pictures you can provide. I have yet to get any skimming but I have not been running it without interruption long enough to get anywhere.

CamBarr, when I get a chance I will get some pics, i haven't forgotten.

Hello Roger,

Thanks for your reply. I will happily send some pics - are you after internal setup or just the operation of the unit?

I think my unit is working ok - I am getting good skimmate and the unit is quiet and running ok....my only problem seems to be the micro bubble escape. I plan to have a good look at the unit this weekend. My unit has the blue screw but seems to operate ok - do you think I should switch to the longer black screw you mention - how do I obtain this, should I seek this via the UK distributor?

Roshan

If it works I would leave it alone, the screw really isn't the problem it is the position of the hole the screw is supposed to cover. I mainly want to see it working properly. I think I have mine working properly now but still no skimmate.

Well, with that thought, I guess my question is:

Would you order one now?

I'm sold on the 9002 skimmer; it's just a matter of buying now, or waiting a few weeks till this gets sorted out. My finger is twitching over the "Order Now" button at Marine Depot.. :)

(This may all be moot if there aren't any in the US, anyway, like all the other Tunze products I seem to want..... :) )

Good news, I have mine working now and I am very pleased. It was just getting it broken in, making sure the L is inserted properly and then substituting the long screw. Andy, we got 10 9002 in December and 10 200 Nano Reef pack and that is all that is out their. Yesterday I submitted a report illustrating the problem in detail, and I am sure the next batch will be free of this problem. Posting pics shortly...

The aquarium:

It has been running since Wednesday. Everything is Tunze, even the tank and light fixture. I am using a Compact Kit 16 filter and in the tank is a wavebox, 3170 Calcium Reactor and a 6000 Stream in a Stream rock. The 9002 is in just for testing and the wavebox is off right now.

The skimmer:

The skimmate is kind of wet but I am still tweaking it a bit. It is working though as it should, just a matter of some fine tuning and the longer black screw is working well for that.

From when the black screw is all the way in, how many turns do you have it out now? Just curious....
