anyone using a nano reefpack 200 yet?

I have one on order and each day I'm hoping for a call from the LFS to say mine's in. Hopefully one of these days. And I can report back and let you know how it's going.....

Mine is super loud and the top keeps popping off. The whole combo overall seems nice. The magnet holder is nice, if you're using both the skimmer and the filter box at the same time. It's real strong. I've decided to just use the skimmer by itself, and I had to go by a $10 bracket set at the LFS, and rig something up with the parts to hold the skimmer.

I've had it running for a few days now (last Thursday maybe?) and still no skimmate production. The venturi doesn't seem to do anything to affect the bubble height yet.

I'm probably going to be returning it if I can't get the noise situation worked out though. I'd rather just to water changes than deal with that in my office.

You have something hooked up wrong Aaron. I am running one and it makes no noise whatsoever. If you send it to me I will get you taken care of.

As a hobbyist and someone who has worked retail, the choice of that skimmer would be followed closely by setting my money on fire. Their are many skimmers that are inexpensive that work better, pretty much anything else below $200 will be better if you don't want to buy ours.

This first batch was sent fully assembled but that will be changed, the pumps came loose in many instances and broke pieces inside, now they will be sent with the pump outside and some assembly will be required. I suspect on Aarons skimmer the pump came loose in transit and something is seperated. The predecessor 3110/2 was shipped fully assembled without incident but the pump was lighter and installed differently, in the new skimmer this won't be possible but assembly will be very simple.

this skimmer will fit in a nano cube 12 gal? Roger, the body i think it will, but i don`t know if the cup fits TIA

bought the pack and set it up 3 days ago. most of the noise i hear is from the bubbles/foam coming up the cup. is that normal? is it gonna tone down? no skimmate yet but i guess it needs breaking period.

It should skim within a couple days unless the tank is brand new. The one I tried made no noise that I could hear within a foot of the tank. If it makes noise you may try raising it up a little and it is always best to start the skimmer with the venturi screw closed and then open it to avoid air getting in the pump.

Roger,

Can you post some more pictures of the reefpack 200, I'm interested in it for a nano project and am still on the fence whether to go the reefpack route (which lets me use an osmolator) or some other route.

Thanks!
Jim

Hi Jim,

Just keep in mind that the nano reef pack will not house the sensors of the osmolator. The full size Reefpack 500 will. With the nano reef pack you just mount the osmolator sensors seperately.

rvitko, if I order the nano DOC now, would it come assembled or would I get the new one with the larger pump? Is the new model available now?

How is yours working and what size tank do you have yours on?

It would come assembled but I doubt you could find one now. I have a prototype I was sent for MACNA and it is running on a big store system (400 gal) only for testing purposes. It removes a bit but it is in competition with a much larger skimmer. It is pretty much dead silent. I plan to retrieve it from the LFS and put it on a friends nano.

Are they not available now? I have the new Marine Depot catelog and they are listed in there? When will they be available?

They are "available" but I don't think anyone has them in stock, we got 10 of them before the factory closed for the holidays and that was it. I hope to get more early next year. Those 10 would be shipped assembled.

I would like to make sure that when I order, I get the one that has the larger pump and not assembled. I trust myself to put it together as long as it's relatively simple and I def. don't trust any of the shipping companies.

When will they be offering the new Nano Doc?
