Anyone using these lights?

A little bit of advice... There is a lot of information within this thread. Some of the questions asked have been answered a few times already. I know it is a longggggg thread but please check the thread (do a keyword search on each page of it if you must) for information.

For example, some pages back I posted information on where to get actinic bulbs for the MH/T5 combo fixtures.

I ordered the 48" 384W Metal Halide System from them saturday. I also ordered the 36" 21 watt 460nm Actinic SlimPaq bulbs from marineandreef.com. Thanx for the info on the bulbs. I hope its gunna be a big improvement from my coralife 260w PC lunarlight fixture.

Hey I actually have a 260W Coralife power compact fixture on my old 55... You will be very pleased! Here is a picture of it side by side with my new 90 that has the MH/T5 unit on it:

Warboc, I have read the posts, there's nothing about the 18W PC's for the SMALL fixture. I am not interested if you can get T5 bulbs for your 48" AS THEY WONT FIT THE 17" LIGHT that i asked about. DO you own the 17" fixture?

You can replace the bulb with anyother 18w bulb that you want. As long as you get straight pin.

Hey Adam, my problem was that i have not found any 03 actinicsCF's in 18w straght pin available on the web. I was asking if anyone else had found a source. (no point buying a light that you cant get the proper replacement bulbs for)
Still no definitive verdict on the legs, a lot of people talk about problems but its hard to tell if they have a defective unit (missing mounting holes) or if the unit really cannot be extended beyond 19"
Has anyone out there managed to get it to sit over a 24" tank? if so did you have to mod it? what did you do?

Actualy Adam, i just noticed you have a 26G bow, do you have the 17" odyssea light over it?

Calm down, I was not referring to you.

The person looking for the actinic bulbs for the fixture I have searched the thread and ordered them from marineandreef.com today.

As for your fixture, people just may not actually have the light fixture you have. By the way, I just loaded the AquaTraders site to figure out what you have and try to help you..

I have a small Corallife PC fixture for my refigium on old tank, but it uses 28W bulbs. About all I can ever find are 50/50 bulbs for it - 50% 10K / 50% Actinic.

I see that hellolights.com offers a 18W version of this bulb. This may or may not help you but here is the link:

Hey warboc, which actinic lighting do you think is better? PC actinic03's or the bulbs I ordered for the MH fixture (21 watt 460nm Actinic T5's). Which one brings out colors better?

The 21W bulbs are not very bright yet my corals show up really really well under them. I may actually take my 48" coralife PC fixture and see how those actinics look over it. I suspect the colors are drowned out a bit under the PC actinics though.

okay kool. If you can get a pic of your tank with the T5 actinics only on and the same tank with only PC actinics on with a close up, that would be great.

I'm turning off the 21w bulbs (worthless IMO)and using 440w of vho, 2 actinic white and 2 super actinic. I'm also switching out the 20k standard mh's that came with the fixture to 10k XM's. I'll let you know how it looks....

in that pic, what bulbs r running? the stock t5's that came with the fixture? Or the upgraded actinic t5's?

Neither. I unplugged the t5's they are worthless (IMO) this is my 440 w VHO, 2 white 2 actinic. I'll be running these along with new 10K XM bulbs in the MH's.

Give some details on how you are setting things up if you can.
