I have been collecting quotes for the new starfire tank I want made. 120X30X30 Basically what I have already is from..

Oceanic = Waiting for response
AFY = Have quote
Aquariums obsessed = Have Quote
Miracles Aquariums = Have quote
Glass Cages = Have Quote

Is there anyone I am missing here that I should look at before I make my choice?

Thanks

Ted

Do not go with Oceanic. Since they have moved from Texas to Milwaukee it has been a complete disaster. You can expect a minimum of a 12 week lead time.

Just an FYI.

Also try Inter-American Pet supply in Canada. Some really nice tanks came out of there, including some that were TOTM.
Good luck!

I did not try Inter American because I could not find a website for them and the few times I tried calling the phone just kept ringing.

I just gave Perfecto the info too thx JCM

Some of the places do not do stands either. Some come with Metal stands to add cladding to.

I think the hard part about the ones that do not come with stands is finding a place that makes stands with experiance in large tanks. That is a lot of weight.

Somehow I need to figure out the cost of a strong wood stand for it.

:thumbsup: Sorry about that Canar!
Looks like you have a good list!

I'm with you on the concern for experienced stand/cabinet makers that know how to correctly reinforce for the weight.

I'm sure you probably have been very thorough, but I've read a couple of ppl in the Large Tank Forums that build very nice stands. Maybe you can get one made by them?

Again, best of luck!

That my friedn will be 1 heack of a tank! Don't know if you have read any of the threads blasting glass cages, but they are out there. I will tell you though I dought I will ever buy a tank from anyone else. While mine were not starfire, they are well built, hold water(most important) and cheap!

I would stay away from glass-cages. My tank scratches easier then a bar of soap. Tank has been up for 6 months and I bet I have 50+ scratches on it already. You would think I have been rubbing the LR on the glass day and night. Also there customer service leaves something to be desired.

Once the last couple quotes come in I will order one. I will then keep everyone posted on the progress.

If you are going custom size, that 12 weeks on Oceanic is no different than when they were in Texas.

They are far more likely to meet the time they tell you than most of the other companies (just do a search here for verification of this claim). And they are quite cooperative to work with. The trick is you have to work through a store, they will not sell to you direct. But you can speak to them direct to give them the specs, etc...

I can't imagine you'll find better than 12 weeks in practice, though some may well claim faster. And their quality is well known.

Oceanic told me today they are out of 3/4" Starfire glass. They also told me the factory that makes starfire has a broken machine they need to make the 3/4" pieces.

I was also informed it would be 10 weeks probably before they could even give me an accurate date

Just under 500

I wanted bigger but I am limiter to 10 feet for that room and I need to be able to get it through my front door so 36 wide will not work.

Inter-American did mine. Good job, expect long wait. I don't think Starfire comes any thicker than 1/2". Anything thicker the have to use Low Iron or laminate several pieces. Was told anything taller than 24" needs 3/4' or more.HTH.
